Chikorita was the MVP of this episode; consistently problem-solving to get them out of trouble. There's even proof she's able to read and comprehend + use a floor plan! That little pear isn't dull!

If I'd watched all of Bayleef's focus episodes before writing Repaved.

So, what's up with Ash and romance???
My friend had a fun headcanon for why he acted dense in D/P.
Ash has made great strides towards his dream with his last journey. But, Pallet Town's monotony has drawn one important question to his attention the he's determined to answer to the world:
Can a Trainer and PokΓ©mon truly fall in love?

I'm working on a cover for a fanfiction about these two! Since the story isn't ready yet, I'm posting this as a finished piece because I'm impatient.
I really love Ash and Bayleef, okay.
Liko's Meowscarada talks to Ash's about jealousy.
You mentioned you regretted not watching Bayleafβs episodes before writing Repaved as you wouldβve given her a larger role rather than sticking her mainly at the end.
I am a bit curious what made you decide to go ahead without watching Gens 2 and 3 in full before writing, particularly after you decided to do a full rewrite. Was it more lack of interest or not thinking it would change much? Is it just the Bayleaf episodes you regret not catching beforehand or Johto as a whole
I had no interest. I still can't even make myself watch through Johto now. Like, it has the occasional goodie, but it is Team Rocket bullshit filler central. It's exhausting. And yeah it's primarily a DP sequel with splashes of Indigo and game/manga homages, so it wasn't all that necessary, I think. I mostly regret that, but i also think things worked out fairly neatly, now that I worked in Bayleef's resolution in at the end.
I really wanted Ash and Dawn to give one another something before they parted, but I could never square what that would be. Dawn's role with resolving things between her and Ash ends up being a perfect bookend, both for the two of them, and Ash's self-actualization as a PokΓ©mon Master.
