What would happen if (Persona 4) Yosuke saw Chie with another guy? Is Yosuke the jealous type?
Great question! Â Letâs find out. Â
âŚâŚâŚ
âIâm going to jump!â Â Yosukeâs fists tightened so much, his nails bit into his palm. Â He sucked back a tearful sniffle and clenched his teeth until a muscle twitched in his cheek. Â A soft, constant breeze fluttered his hair. His heart raced from the betrayal filling him from his toes to his head. Â it threatened to burst from his body like an atomic explosion.Â
His shoes were placed neatly side by side on the ground out of reach so he couldnât retrieve them and change his mind.
Behind him, a small crowd of onlookers, too nervous to venture near, had gathered. Â His friends and fellow Investigation Team members, Yu, and Yukiko, were among them. Â
âHow long has be been like this?â Yukiko leaned a whisper to Yu.Â
âFive minutes.â
âShouldnât we do something?âÂ
âIâve already called someone.â
A woman nearby mumbled, âWhat happened? Is he ok?â among a chorus of clueless speculations. Â
âYosuke,â Yu slid his foot forward, inching closer. âLetâs talk about this.â
âHow could she?â He wiped his sleeve across his snotty nose.  âHow could she do this to me? After everything weâve been through.âÂ
âIâm sure itâs not that bad,â Yukiko tried.Â
âThey hugged for a full minute! Tightly! What was I supposed to think?!â Â His sock-covered toes curled into the edge. Â Â
Yu glanced back to Yukiko, and saw the person heâd called settle smoothly and quietly next to his friend. Â
Naoto nodded to him. Â Arrangements had been made, and precautions taken. Yosukeâs father, and the building security were notified.Â
He looked back to his distraught best friend perched precariously on the lip of the drop. Â One wrong move and gravity would take over. Â âCan you tell me what happened?â
Yosuke lowered his head.  âI came out of Ayaâs with two mega beef bowls like she wanted, and he was there with a suitcase.  And she was in his arms. And she smiledâŚâ  He clenched his eyes shut.  âShe looked so happy,â he whimpered.Â
âThen you left and came here?â Yu ventured. Â
Yosuke nodded. Â
âWhy here?â
Yosukeâs eyes cracked open and he took a deep breath.  âI like it here.âÂ
âYosuke!â Â Chie pushed through the crowd and ran up next to Yu. Â âWhat do you think youâre doing?!â
Her voice rammed an icicle through his chest.  For the first time, he turned sad brown eyes toward his friends, to take in their faces for the last time.  âJust tell me, Chie.  Who is he?âÂ
âWhat?â  She blinked.  âWait⌠Is that what this is about?  Seriously?  Get down from there, you idiot! Youâre being overdramatic! Youâre scaring Yukiko!â
âIâm fine,â she answered calmly.Â
Chie blinked at her friend. Â âYou guys arenât remotely worried about this?â
Yu shook his head from side to side.Â
Chie sighed, then continued, âOk, well, youâre scaring me, then! Yosuke, please, just get your butt off that ledge! Iâll buy you your favorite snack.â
âYou canât bribe me with food.â
âIt usually works.â
âMy heart will need more than a melon soda and takoyaki to heal.â
âCan I have your bike?â Yu piped up. Â
âSure, bro,â Yosuke mumbled listlessly. Â All life disappeared from his eyes. Â âItâs all yours. Â Iâm a broken man.â
âOh good grief,â Chie smacked her palm against her face.  âLook, itâs not what you think.  That guy, heâsââÂ
âGood-bye, cruel world!â
She gasped. Â âYosuke, no!â
Yosukeâs arms extended to the side as he leaned back. Â He took in azure blue sky overhead, drifting with puffy white clouds fresh from a storm, and cried. The faces of his friends, and the freedom of sky were the last things he would see as he let himself fall off the edge into the sweet oblivionof Junesâ newest rooftop additionÂ
The wind soothed him, calmed him slightly, but in the end, he couldnât smile.
The impact plunged his world into darkness. Â
âYosuke,â a small voice nudged through the darkness, pleading, begging.  âYosuke.âÂ
He groaned. Â Tiny fingers poked his arm to get his attention. Sound muffled around him like his head was wrapped in a sponge.
Nanako stood next to him shoulder deep in a rainbow sea of plastic hollow balls.  âAre you ok?âÂ
Yosuke opened his eyes and stared up at the second level of the new play area where heâd made a perfect back flop into the ball pit. Â He let out a weary sigh.Â
She giggled. Â âSilly. Â You gotta go down the slide. Â Itâs way more fun.â
âI should leave him be,â Yu stated. âAt least for a few minutes.â  He trusted that Nanako could handle it from here. After that point, he would go in and save whatever dignity survived.
Naoto shrugged. âHis dad already said heâs grounded for causing a scene. Might as well let him wallow in his misery for a little longer.âÂ
Chie folded her arms at the edge of the pit. Â âAre you going to get out there now that youâd embarrassed yourself?â
âWho is he?â Yosuke said to the netting overhead, and the kids on the second level who still watched the weird teenager out of curiosity.Â
Chie sighed and lowered her arms, speaking more softly.  âHeâs my cousin. Hideyoshi lives in the city.  Heâs staying with us for the week until his mom comes back from her business trip. I havenât seen him in forever. We were tight as little kids.âÂ
Yosukeâs eyes widened.  âCousinâŚ?â  What a fool he was.  He wanted to disappear, and knew exactly how to do it.  He slipped his headphones over his ears. âNanako, bury me.âÂ
âOk, Can we get ice cream later?â
âSure.â
âYay!â She piled as many colorful spheres over her older cousinâs best friend as her tiny hands could manage until only the tip of Yosukeâs nose remained. Â
And that is how Yosuke lived for five minutes, drowning in music in a ball pit of shame.
