this is one of the last photos I took of Chiefcake. she’d already started to feel not-right, so she came to find me in my office and settled in this dog bed.
when I first brought her home 5 years ago, she was terrified - she hid under my dresser snarling, and didn’t want anything to do with me. its an incredible privilege that after years of living together, her first instinct when she felt sick wasn’t to self-isolate but to seek me out. she was a giant surly asshole who dominated the entire house, but she was also my buddy. and I’m going to miss her.
