They all still fucking suck whenever "spoiler embargo" hits.

I understand like after months and years it's not worth tagging everything when participating in discussion of the game; fan arts and what have you.

But also some people do! Just a little "spoilers for patch x.y" Every. Time.

So it makes me a bit salty when suddenly it's "spoiler embargo" and no one fucking tags anything or has a warning label. Just "rkgk" or "look at them" "I love how when"

Shut up. Holy shit just shut up or tag things properly. Most of us don't pay attention to the secret calendar day where its suddenly not a spoiler anymore? (who even chooses when anyways??) So it's such great fun to see that stuff everywhere out of seemingly no where :) :) idk it cant JUST be me that doesn't know not to be even online for a date I don't know about.

Plus like you could've still...made the content or talked about the thing. No one was stopping you as soon as you got to that point with others??

Okay but. Prove it wrong? With, oh I dunno, EVIDENCE?

I was upset, sure, but I figured okay maybe they just don’t know the difference between referencing and tracing? I’ve talked to this person before, they seemed nice, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.

With that in my head, I noted them (this was on deviantART, go figure) providing them the extremely clear evidence that they had traced me. I literally took my lineart, colored it red, and plopped it neatly and exactly over their lines. I also provided side by sides of obvious areas they had traced my cell-shading too. And finally, I provided the ref I had used to show the obvious difference between how a traced work looks (theirs) and a referenced work does (mine).

I then clarified that a) I was not looking for a fight, just a resolution, and b) while I was hurt that they would use my work without permission (or even crediting for that matter), I was willing to overlook it if they simply credited my artwork as the original in their artist description. I tacked on a “I hope this sounds reasonable to you!” for good measure.

I wake up this morning to two notes. The first one they acknowledge that I’m upset and apologize, and they say they’ll take down the art if I’m really that upset. However, the second note, sent later, has a completely different tone.

They accuse me of overreacting, that our artwork only has similarities, they used the ref I used not my art, but they’ve deleted their art since I’m apparently “SO” upset. They end the note with an “it’d be better not to note me back it’d be a favor to the both of us.”

I'm tagging these posts with "negative" so if anyone would like to remove them from their dash all they need to do is blacklist that tag. I don't plan on posting anymore publicly about this, but at least you won't have to see the previous posts if you don't want to.
