The fruit trees are now out of bloom. There is prospect of a better crop than in late years.

The East Chezzetcook Quoit Club intends holding their annual games during this month and all those intending to take part are practicing hard.

The harbor is cleared of all its ice and the vessels have commenced to coast. Trout fishing and clam digging are now the leading pursuits.

Preparations are being made for the reopening of the mill at Three Fathom Harbour. There are about half a million feet of hemlock ready to be sawed and about 2 millions of spruce ready to be brought down Porter’s Lake.

The three roads going from Chezzetcook to Halifax are covered by the surplus waters of Porter’s Lake, to a depth of 3 feet.

We are glad to hear that Mrs. Dennis Smith who was very ill is recovering under the skillful attendance of Seaforth’s popular doctor, F.L. Hill.

The long looked-for snow storm visited us in no mild manner. It made things look quite busy and the annual wanted fire wood is being hauled home with a will. The harbor channel here has been frozen over better than it has been for a number of years, but the spring tides of last week broke the ice at the edges.
