Since BLM is trending now I was going to bring back a post I made a few years ago about problematic tropes for black women/femmes I was seeing in a concerningly , like 85% , amount of riverdale and specifically choni fanfics. The term for it is misogynoir which is misogyny only related to black women/femmes. The main way it is shown is writing aggressive, overly sexual young black characters who aren’t allowed to be vulnerable or have their own stories. Also If we critique the actual show about it, which a lot of people do and which makes it more confusing,we should also be keeping that energy in fanfics.

“Someone’s jealous.” Cheryl smirks

And Toni blushes and stammers and feigns ignorance until red nails are lifting her chin and she’s staring at soft brown eyes.

“Don’t worry. Jealous Toni is hot as hell.”

And she’s biting her lip in the most devilishly innocent way when she says:

“Home?”
