✉️信 Always I Trust - ChengRan, 2014 (Collaborate with Carina Lau)
The short film based on a spam email, featuring Hong Kong actress Carina Lau, tells a story about a desperate woman trying to find a man whom she talked to before. Artist ChengRan received this email knowing it was a spam with messy typos and wrong grammars, but found the emotion behind it touching, hence he finished this short film with Lau. Her performance makes it even more convincing: the audience are almost as heart-broken as the woman does in the film. The uncanny experience comes from the question: if we can truly feel heart-broken and desperate from it, does it matter if it is a machine generated spam? Do we have control of our own emotions, or we are far from distinguish reality and virtuality, or all of this actually does not matter at all?
