Back in high school, I was lucky enough to take chemistry from my grandpa - he taught high school chemistry for years, and even though heโd changed careers and was selling hearing aides at the time, he made a weekly commute to teach sciences at the academy where my sister and I took classes. He used to tell us - โAlways stay excited. Lifeโs no fun unless you have something youโre excited about.โ I treasure his sayings more deeply now than ever, as he passed away earlier this year. Something about this cake beyond its design reminds me of him - I wish he couldโve seen me *freaking out* in the craft store when I found the decorations I was looking for, or heard me flip out all over again when the cake started to come together the way Iโd pictured. ๐ Who knows, though.....Iโd like to think that maybe he did. โค๏ธ๐ I love you, grandpa, and I heard you.
