bonus silly:

tldr the context: during the shuffle of the knight wrecking the flower shop, unused red seeds were knocked off a shelf, and when Blue was replanted with Yellow, one of those seeds wound up in their soil and grew.

They're vaguely aware another presence is in their display, but it becomes more obvious what's going on when they get taken to Castletown.

Pomni: I'm pretty sure her favorite is- ...Caine why are you holding her like that?

Zooble: More importantly, how are you holding her like that without being mauled?

(Caine has suddenly appeared, Egg under one arm like a football, air-jail style.)

Caine: I'm the host of the circus, Zooble! The only pain anyone can cause me is emotional! Oh, and she's in time-out because she bit Ragatha.

Egg: Well maybe if she would stop BABYING ME I wouldn't have to BITE HER to get the message across!

Anyways what are we talking about?

Jax: Somebody wants to know who your favorite NPC is.

Egg: Oh, that's easy. The mannequins. Ming, Disappearing Guy, that one Stupid Sauce addict- they come in many different genres. They're also not immersive enough or frequent enough on adventures to form attachments to, so they're pretty easy to talk to.

Pomni: ...Really? I- I could have sworn with how much you two hang out, that Caine was your favorite NP-

Caine: (sweating profusely) YUP THAT'S RIGHT EGG, NOW GO TO YOUR ROOM, TAKE A NAP, AND DON'T QUESTION WHY!!!

Red was a kind, go-with-the-flow, carefree woman with an abundance of love for life and all that entails it.

She really enjoys musicals and choreography

🐞 -Backstory- 🐞 (WIP)

Red was originally going to be a part of the wedding bouquet, and was the second to bloom after Flowery. They became fast friends, enjoying talking and dreaming of the future. Unfortunately, she struggled to maintain her health, and began wilting.

She kept up her positivity as best she could (to her own detriment), and only really let her mask down around Flowery. She planned for the future in spite of her wilt, and tired often.

Asgore thought the color red would clash too much with the other colors, and since she was already wilting, decided to just compost her.

What's left of her lingers on in Olive.

🐞 -Relationships With Others- 🐞

Flowery - Mutual pining. He loved her deeply, but never got to outright tell her before she died, though he believes she knew and hopes she reciprocated (she did, from what he could read).

Olive - Predecessor and technically older sister or mother figure. They've never met, but Olive looks up to her.

Red Seeds - She's their predecessor and technically older sister or mother figure. They've never met, but the red seeds looked up to her.

Blue - Only briefly met her before she died, but they got along really well, and he thinks of her fondly.

Yellow - Never really met her, having been around when she died, but never got to know her outside of what Flowery and Blue said about her.

Asgore - Like a daughter trying to impress a father (though father and daughter isn't their actual dynamic. They're not found family.) She pushed herself too hard to improve her health so she could be a part of the bouquet, but wound up overworking herself instead. She doesn't blame him for pruning her, but she wishes she could have been given a chance.

Green - Never met, but has heard good things about her.

Aqua - Never met, and has heard good things about her. Curious what she was really like.

Seth - Never met, and has heard good things about her, but questions how accurate Flowery's perception of Red really was. Suspects rose-tinted denial on his memories.

I'm still working on Red's storyline, but she's got a few new things to her; (ramble romble under cut)

🐞 Antennae disguised as a hairpiece? Might be just a hairpiece, but ambiguity is more fun lol. She's already got ladybug wings, so it's not that far of a stretch.

🐞 She's around the same age as Aqua, only Aqua's been around a lot longer than she has. I scooted her age range down to around 6-8yo, because I don't actually know how fast children develop anymore. She's also a flower and not a human, so I guess it's up for interpretation how flower development works.

🐞 She didn't show up in castletown already bloomed. She showed up with Yellow and Blue still only a sprout/bud, and not having gained her color yet. They wind up naming her Olive/Olivia only for her to later wind up becoming red, so now she has 2.5 names lol.

🐞 Red seeds are naturally weaker than the other colors. They don't grow fast, and have a hard time thriving in general. This translated to her having an awful immune system, and being sick really often when she was a bud. This usually paired with a fever, so she was often bundled up in a blanket. She still

🐞 She has OCD and anxiety (and probably RSD) and has a tendency to pull one of her wings around to the front and fidget with it. Unfortunately, her wings are delicate, so this often winds up damaging them, which gets worse if she feels the need to make the little tears even or odd numbered, otherwise properly spaced out, or whatever other excuse her brain gives her to keep doing the self-soothing.

To combat this, whenever she's discovered picking at her wings, she gets cape-jailed. Cape-jail just means she has to wear her blanket like a cape. This acts as a layer of defense so that if she needs to fidget with something, reaching back on instinct will have her hand meet the blanket first instead of her wings, which is infinitely safer and easier to fix if frayed. Doubles as a disability aid, and a comfort item! :3c

I was trying to answer one question and accidentally answered ALL OF THEM.

So I was trying to figure out HOW and WHY logistically Herbert is vegetarian- because he IS, but it doesn't make any SENSE.

it’s not natural instinct. And it’s not HEALTHY for them.

So I was thinking “what horrible thing do we think happened for Herbert, who has never lived outside of the arctic where he even has ease of access to it, to decide to become vegetarian?”

the ONLY thing I think he could reasonably find would be eggs and even then, how’s he supposed to figure out what does or does not have a creature inside it

But actually maybe not even eggs, since he’s nowhere near anything but mammals before being at club penguin

Polar bears are EXCELLENT swimmers, which is something polar bears are known for being extremely good at, as it’s necessary for hunting their main prey, sea lions.

Herbert is... not good at swimming. In fact, canonically, he CANNOT. Not only that, but he’s WEIRDLY sensitive to the cold for an arctic mammal with

-Black, sun absorbent skin under all that fur -ALL THAT FUR. -Water repellent fur!!!

SO I THOUGHT “Ok but why wouldn’t he know how to swim? Nothing suggests he was abandoned or anything. I mean he’s weirdly sensitive to the cold, so maybe he never got used to-“

It’s not canon or anything but it’s the only reason I can find so far. He’s not albino, because his nose and paw pads are still black, so it’s not a lack of sunlight absorption. There's a good chance he WAS abandoned as a result of this condition, which is why he doesn't hunt.

But it explains why he can’t swim, and why he's vegetarian
