-possible problems cause behind Fast Fashion
[ Labors ]
• In developing countries, an estimated 168 million children ages 5 to 14 are forced to work.
• Products that commonly come from sweatshops are garments, cotton, bricks, cocoa, and coffee. ( famous examples: Forever21, Nike, Gap ...)
• A study showed that doubling the salary of sweatshop workers would only increase the consumer cost of an item by 1.8%, while consumers would be willing to pay 15% more to know a product did not come from a sweatshop.
• Bangladeshi sweatshop where workers regularly must work 100 hours per week for less than 25 cents per hour.
• Health condition/ first aid+ insurance that under Occupational injuries
• Next generation? may cheap labor family make a change on social class =>next generation?
[ Sustainability ]
• "We don’t need high-quality pieces, because we won’t be wearing them for long." ??? Americans, as a group, hoard more than 20 billion pieces of clothing per year; I’m clearly not the only one with a closet full of options and “nothing” to wear.
• Salvation Army or Goodwill actually receive too many low-quality donations: around five tons of clothes per day, only 11,200 pieces are actually sent to stores.
• Environmental pollution from mass production.
( fabric- dye -> water pollution/ cotton-> soil overdo, air ,etc)
• Using cheap material to create something in cheap quality, and then become a cheap shop, and then what’s in the end? Where all the garbage/ recycling system ended up going to?
