I understand thereâs been soooo many cats but come on, theyâre always mixing up the names. Sheâs talking to LeafPOOL, her sister, not Leafstar đ€Šđ»ââïž
It Chapter 2 was directed by Andy Muschietti, written by Gary Dauberman and Stephen King. Based off the book Stephen King wrote. Starring James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Jessica Chastain, and Bill Skarsgard. A story about a being terrorizing the city of Derry. And a group of adults who had original brought him down as a group of kids.
As someone who LOVES the original TV Mini Series, and someone who JUST finished the book, I can tell you I was very excited for this movie. It was awesome at first. How it started wouldâve made anyone who had read the book happy. They took a literal scene from the book and did it almost word for word to bring it to screen. Promising. After this, the movie and the book divert from one another it was a little difficult for me. I think it was mainly difficult seeing as I had just read the book right before I saw the film...as in I had 50 pages left of the book to finish when I went and saw the movie.Â
I have heard from friends who havenât read the book that they did think that this part of the movie went to long. And I will say that about 40 minutes till the end of the movie I thought we were about 20 minutes away, and then I really had another 20 after I had imagined it would be done. But that didnât make me upset about anything. I enjoyed the story and the small little nods to those who read the book made me even more appreciative of the film.
I have just recently realized how much I love Bill Hader. He is one of the best actors Iâve seen in a while. Heâs great in comedies, heâs great as a voice actor in cartoons, and heâs amazing in It. Not to mention Bill Skarsgard. as Pennywise. I learned that he can make his eyes go in separate directions and that immediately made me know that he was meant to play Pennywise. He gives you chills from the second you see him bite into his first victim.
As a lover of horror, this was definitely one to watch. I say, give it a shot. You might be happily surprised.
Mulder hasnât slept, hasnât eaten, hasnât showered or shaved. Â He waits for a phone call from the gunmen that hasnât come and he stares blankly at maps and profiles of fourteen missing people. Â Inside his mind, heâs frantically searching for Scully, trying desperately to come up with something, anything that could help find her. Â He also knows, deep down, that this is going to be a long, torturous waiting game, one that could last weeks, months, years, or forever. Â And this isnât like two years ago, or five years ago. Â The deputy director would like nothing more than to toss Mulder out on his ass. Â If he doesnât toe the line, the resources afforded to him in the FBI will be gone.
Agent Doggett has been demanding an interview with Mulder, and Mulder canât refuse, and heâs afraid his temper will get the better of him. Â The guy rubs him in too much of the wrong way not to get worked up over. Â To Mulderâs surprise, a woman comes in instead, with dark hair and the perpetual hint of a smile. Â Where Doggett was too aggressive, she is too relaxed.
âAgent Mulder,â she says congenially. Â âIt's nice to meet you. Â I'm Agent Reyes.â
âWhereâs Agent Doggett?â he asks.
âWe thought it might be better if I spoke to you instead.â Â She sits across from him. Â She doesn't carry a notepad or a file with her. Â She looks like she's here for tea and conversation, not an interrogation. Â âI've been assigned to the task force to find the missing fourteen.â
âGood luck.â
âIâm sorry about your partner.â
He wants to answer her politeness with sarcasm, but he hears Skinner in the back of his head telling him to play nice if he wants any hope of being allowed in on the investigation. Â The sooner they could clear him of any wrongdoing or negligence, the sooner he could do something substantive.
âI appreciate that,â he says. Â âSorry won't help me find her though.â
âWhat will?â
âWhat's your specialty, Agent Reyes? Â What do you know about alien abduction?â
âNot much. Â I work in the ritualistic crime division in New Orleans.â
Mulder pauses and thinks for a moment. Â âMonica Reyes?â
âYes.â
âYou worked the Lafontaine murders last year.â
âI did.â
âI wanted that case. Â Submitted a requisition for it, but got denied. Â Kersh had us working shit detail at that time.â
âWhy would you have wanted that case? Â It was horrible.â
âIt bore a striking similarity to a mass murder in 1979.â
It's Reyesâ turn to pause and she tilts her head slightly. Â âWere you my anonymous tip with the news article from The Times-Picayune?â
âAnonymous tips are meant to be anonymous for a reason. Â I read your report. Â You didn't find a connection.â
âNo, I didn't.â
âI didn't kill my partner. Â So ask me what you think you need to know so I can get out of here.â
âYou and Agent Scully were close?â
âYes, we are close.â
âRight.â
âTo pick up where Agent Doggett left off, yes, weâre more than just partners, though that's been a more recent development in our relationship.â
âHow recent?â
âAbout four months recent.â
âWhy?â
âWhy what?â
âWhy did you decide to become intimate with your partner?â
âIt wasn't so much of a decision as...it just happened.â Â
Mulder sits back and closes his eyes. Â He thinks about the first night they spent together, when he put his arm around her as they watched a movie, when she looked up at him with surprise, but smiled. Â When heâd let his thumb graze her arm past her short sleeved top. Â When sheâd shifted closer and cautiously rested her hand on his thigh. Â When she'd looked at his mouth and he had to know what it would be like to kiss her. Â No, it hadnât been a decision, it had been a compulsion.
âI'm sorry if this is uncomfortable or embarrassing for you.â
âIf?â Â Mulder gives a little snort. Â âPeople have talked about me behind my back for years. Â I'm not worried about what anyone says or thinks about me, it's what they might say about Scully that bothers me.â
âI'm told she's a good agent.â
âThe best.â Â A headache that Mulder has been fighting starts to pulse behind his eyes and he pinches the top of his nose before rubbing his brows. Â âI have medical records I'm supposed to give you. Â Of our attempts to have a baby, and her infertility. Â I didn't know she was pregnant until yesterday. Â I'm not even quite sure I believe it, but I would never, ever hurt her.â
âIf you were trying to have a baby, why didn't she tell you she was pregnant before you went to Bellefleur?â
âI can only imagine it was because she knew I wouldn't let her come.â
âWouldn't let her?â
Mulder puts his hand down and looks Agent Reyes in the eyes. Â She looks at him neutrally, but he has the feeling she thinks she's caught him in an admission of guilt. Â He tried not to clench his jaw, but it's hard not to.
âI had a bad feeling about coming back,â he says. Â âI tried to talk her out of going, but she insisted. Â If she had told me about the baby, I wouldâve tried a lot harder.â
âWhat would you have done?â
âNot come at all, probably.â
âYou would stay behind and not chase a lead?â
âFor her I would.â
âThat's not what I've heard about you.â
Mulder swallows. Â The even tone in Reyesâ voice is unsettling. Â She has a way of stating things without malice or surprise, but the judgment is still there in what she says. Â He was wrong about her being too relaxed. Â Perhaps she's even more calculating than Agent Doggett.
âLetâs just say I havenât felt the need to go haring off on my own lately.â
âBut, she has, hasnât she? Â Wasnât it just a few months ago that she followed the lead in an investigation without telling you where she was going or that she was with a man youâve described as an enemy of the government.â
âJesus, how did you even-â
âAnd you said youâve only been together intimately for four months. Â Was she running out on you then, or was this before you were together? Â Did she run off on you now?â
Mulder canât take it anymore. Â He stands up and slaps both hands down on the table, but Agent Reyes doesnât flinch. Â âThis is insane,â he shouts.
âNo, fourteen people vanishing without a trace is insane, Agent Mulder.â
âNot if youâve seen what Iâve seen.â
âAccording to you, you didnât see anything more than a bright light in the sky.â
Mulder scrubs his face with both hands, frustrated and tense. Â He pushes his hands back through his hair and tightens his grip as he turns away from Agent Reyes and paces the room.
âIâm here to help you, Agent Mulder,â Agent Reyes says.
âHelp me?â Â Mulder turns towards her and shakes his head. Â âYou canât help me if you donât believe me.â
âI never said I didnât believe you.â
The door opens and Agent Doggett enters, followed by Skinner. Â Agent Reyes stands and pushes her chair back into place under the table.
âYouâre gonna accompany the task force to Arizona,â Doggett says.
Mulder cuts his eyes to Skinner, whose face reveals nothing. Â âWhatâs in Arizona?â he asks.
âBoy by the name of Gibson Praise,â Agent Doggett answers.
âWhat do you want with Gibson?â
âI donât know,â Doggett says, holding a red file up in his hand. Â âBut, someone wants us to find him.â
*****
The sun is still high when the caravan of black SUVs stops in front of the tiny desert boarding school for the deaf. Â The air is hot and thick with the dust the cars have kicked up. Â Mulder wipes a gritty sheen of sweat off the back of his neck. Â He hasnât had a chance to be alone with Skinner, to find out what this is about. Â He still hasnât heard back from the gunmen. Â Heâs flying blind in this situation and he feels like he needs to proceed with the utmost caution.
Agent Doggett is on one side of Mulder, Agent Reyes the other, like a police escort. Â Mulder thinks they may as well just put him in handcuffs. Â He feels like theyâd like to. Â There are at least ten other agents in the task force behind them, buzzing with adrenaline and excitement, like invading a school for deaf kids is going to be the high point of their careers. Â He wonders if any of them has ever been out of the bullpen. Â It wouldnât surprise them if they hadnât. Â Kersh likes to keep his agents on a tight leash.
âI thought we were only here to talk to him,â Mulder says to Doggett, glancing back over his shoulder at the team behind them.
âTheyâre not here for the boy,â Doggett answers, eyes forward. Â His face glistens in the heat.
Mulder takes another look back. Â It becomes clear to him then. Â Theyâre there to make sure he doesnât get away. Â He searches for Skinner amongst them, and then sees his boss standing alone and apart from the group, his cell phone pressed to one ear and a hand over the other. Â It looks like heâs shouting something, but thereâs a strong desert wind blowing that carries his voice away.
âWait,â Mulder says, stopping and turning fully to watch Skinner. Â âSomethingâs wrong.â
âWhat is it?â Agent Reyes asks.
Mulder takes a step away from the two agents and squints out at the desert. Â Thereâs a glimmer of something in the distance, but heâs distracted when Skinner pockets his phone and starts briskly for them, his face red and wet, tie billowing over his shoulder in the wind.
âSomeone breached the FBI database overnight using Agent Scullyâs credentials,â Skinner says.
âWhat were they looking for?â Mulder asks.
âFiles on Gibson Praise.â
Mulder turns to go back to the school, but Skinner stops him. Â âThereâs something else,â he says.
âWhat?â
âI heard from your...friendsâŠâ  Skinner pauses and glances at Agent Doggett and then back at Mulder.  âThey say theyâre getting reports of activity in Clifton.â
âClifton? Â How far is that from where we are?â
âThirty miles, maybe.â
âWe need to find Gibson. Â Now.â
With Agents Doggett and Reyes hot on his heels, Mulder rushes towards the entrance of the school and throws open the door. Â Thereâs a receptionist at the front desk that looks up with puzzlement, but itâs clear she canât hear the commotion that follows him. Â He starts yelling Gibsonâs name, trusting that at least Doggett or Reyes has flashed a badge by now to someone, and searches the school room by room.
âHeâs not here,â Mulder says to the agents that trail after him. Â âHe knew what was coming.â
âWhere could he go?â Agent Reyes asks.
Mulder shakes his head and pushes open the back exit. Â He squints out at the desert again and then looks down at the ground. Â There are footprints in the dirt, two sets of shoes, tennis shoes and what looks like high-heeled boots. Â The imprints are clean at first, even steps out towards the open desert, but they soon grow messier and more chaotic. Â Mulder follows the tracks, slowly at first, and then picking up speed.
âAgent Mulder!â Â Agent Doggett calls after him.
Mulder doesnât stop. Â He runs alongside the fading footprints and doesnât have to look back to know Agent Doggett is behind him. Â Through the desert brush and tumbleweeds, he spots something in the distance, taking shape the closer he gets. Â He sees what looks like Scully, dragging a stumbling Gibson Praise behind her, marching defiantly towards the edge of a cliff. Â Agent Doggett must see what he sees at the same time, because he calls her name.
âAgent Scully!â
Scully doesnât slow or stop or acknowledge Agent Doggettâs call to her. Â Gibson is resisting her pull as best he can, but sheâs relentless in her hold. Â Mulder stops in his tracks about twenty feet away and puts an arm out to stop Agent Doggett as well. Â He didnât notice Agent Reyes behind them, who skids to a stop on the other side of Mulder.
âAgent Scully, stop right there!â Â Agent Doggett shouts.
Scully finally pauses and looks towards them. Â Thereâs something cold and dead in her eyes. Â Sheâs unmoved by the boy struggling in her grip and her hold on him is effortless. Â She blinks slowly as though sheâs studying the three agents. Â Mulder can hear Gibson wheezing, trying to say something.
âSssnoter,â Gibson croaks, staring at Mulder with wide, fearful eyes.
âSssnoter,â Mulder murmurs to himself, repeating it and forming the shape of the words with his mouth. Â âSssnoter. Â Snot ter. Â Snot her. Â Itâs not her! Â Itâs not her!â
Instinctually, Mulder moves his hand to his hip to reach for his weapon, only remembering that his gun was taken from him by Skinner before they left Oregon. Â Agent Doggett, following Mulderâs lead, draws his weapon and Agent Reyes follows.
âLet him go!â Mulder yells.
âHands in the air,â Agent Doggett orders.
The Scully imposter still looks unmoved, but she releases Gibson, who falls to his knees and starts to crawl away. Â Agent Reyes breaks away from Mulder and Agent Doggett, her gun still pointed at Scully, and steps to the side to where Gibson is crawling.
âIâm not gonna ask you again, put your hands in the air!â Â Agent Doggett takes aim, ready to fire.
âDonât shoot unless you can hit the base of the neck,â Mulder says to him.
âWhat?â
Agent Reyes has knelt to pull Gibson out of harmâs way and Mulder moves behind Agent Doggett as he stalks forward. Â The Scully imposter cocks her head to the side and then almost with a shrug, turns and steps off the edge of the cliff.
âNo!â Â Mulder screams, knowing full well it isnât Scully whoâs just fallen, but it looks like her, and he knows itâs an image heâll never be able to shake. Â He stands rooted to his spot while Agent Doggett runs to the drop site and peers over the edge.
Thereâs the sound of activity surrounding him, of Skinner rushing past to join Agent Doggett, of members of the task force trying to help Agent Reyes with Gibson, of Agent Doggett shouting orders to people, but it all blends into a cacophony. Â Itâs Skinner that breaks the spell by pulling Mulder to the side and asking him what happened.
âIt was a bounty hunter,â Mulder says. Â âTheyâre after Gibson.â
âWhy?â Skinner asks.
âI donât know. Â He needs protection.â
âHe needs a hospital. Â They think his leg might be broken.â
âSomeoneâs got to stay with him.â
âAre you asking me?â
âYouâre the only one with any idea of what weâre dealing with here.â Â Mulder looks towards Agent Doggett, whoâs organizing a team to head down into the canyon and retrieve the body of the Scully imposter. Â âI donât trust anyone else at the moment.â
âWhat will you do?â
âKeep searching.â
Skinner looks away, contemplative. Â He finally nods once, but doesnât say anything to Mulder before he walks away. Â Mulder watches as he lifts Gibson into his arms and orders another agent to get to one of the SUVs to go to the hospital. Â No one but Agent Reyes notices when Mulder heads further out into the desert.
*****
Mulder has been walking for over an hour. Â Heâs been feeling lethargic for awhile, his throat is dry and he has a headache. Â He hears Scully in his head, canât even leave you for a day, Mulder, and youâve gotten yourself dehydrated. Â He stops and hunches over, his hands on his knees. Â The sun has gotten low and the air has cooled somewhat, but heâs still hot all over. Â Dirty sweat has dried on his skin, making him itch.
Even in the middle of the desert, he has the feeling of being watched. Â Several times, heâs paused to search all sides of the vast landscape, but itâs hard to see through the brush and cactus. Â Heâs completely alone save for the few lizards heâs passed, a low-flying vulture, and a scorpion he nearly stepped on from not being attentive enough. Â It only now starts to occur to him that he could die out here and no one would know. Â He wonders if thereâs anyone left to care at this point.
He hears a noise he canât identify close by and he goes still, immediately fearing a snake of some kind. Â When he finally dares to glance over, heâs more relieved than he cares to let on seeing Agent Reyes approaching. Â He straightens and sways a little on his feet.
âHave you been following me?â Mulder asks. Â He notices a canteen at Agent Reyesâ hip and unconsciously lips his chapped lips.
âWater?â she asks.
âPlease.â
Agent Reyes pulls the strap holding the canteen over her head and hands it to Mulder. Â His grip is almost too weak to unscrew the cap and he fights the urge to gulp at the water. Â Slowly, Scullyâs voice reminds him. Â Small sips, Mulder.
âI grew up in New Mexico,â she says. Â âMost parents probably tell their kids never to talk to strangers. Â Mine told me never to go into the desert alone.â
He coughs on a sip of water and screws the cap back on the canteen before he hands it back to her.  âYeah, wellâŠâ
âWhat exactly are we looking for?â
âAircraft. Â A force field.â Â He shrugs. Â âYou donât really find it, it finds you.â
âWhat happened back there on the cliff?â
âThat wasnât Scully.â
âThen who was it?â
âNot who. Â It.â
âIt looked like Agent Scully.â
âIt can look like whoever it wants.â Â
Mulder turns away from Agent Reyes and looks out into the grey nothingness. Â Thereâs an orange glow behind the mountains in the distance. Â It will be pitch black soon. Â He wasnât thinking earlier.
âAgent Mulder?â Â Agent Reyes asks. Â âIf that wasnât Agent Scully, who was it?â
âAn alien.â
âHow did you know?â
Mulder hesitates. Â He isnât sure of how much he should tell Agent Reyes. Â He doesnât know that he can trust her, but there doesnât seem to be much of a point in being discreet now. Â Keeping quiet certainly wonât bring Scully back.
âGibson Praise is part alien,â he says. Â âAt least, thatâs what I think. Â He knows what theyâre thinking. Â He knows what all of us are thinking, actually. Â We should head back. Â Itâs getting dark.â
Agent Reyes cups her hand at Mulderâs elbow when he walks one way and pulls him in a slightly different direction without comment. Â He follows her, sensing that her confidence comes from experience. Â When it starts to get darker, she pulls a flashlight out from her pocket and points it at the ground in front of their feet. Â After some time of silence, she speaks.
âI first met Agent Doggett about eight years ago,â she says. Â He was NYPD at the time. Â Did you know that?â
âI don't know anything about Agent Doggett,â he answers.
âHe was a suspect at one point for the murder of his son.â
âThat's...that's awful.â
âYes. Â Luke was seven. Â Agent Doggett was cleared very early on. Â I was in the New York City field office at the time and I was on the investigation.â
âWhat happened?â
âStranger abduction, we think. Â Never made an arrest.â
Mulder quietly contemplates this bit of information. Â He wonders what Agent Doggett was like as a cop. Â He wonders if that incident in his life propelled him into joining the FBI. Â If Agent Doggett was also there for a personal cause.
âI only tell you this so that you'll know that Agent Doggett is on your side,â she says. Â âHeâs been in your shoes.â
âScully isnât dead.â
âItâs about loss, Agent Mulder. Â He knows what itâs like. Â And I think he must have felt a particular way about this case to call me in on it. Â He doesnât keep in touch. Â Iâm sure I remind him of Luke, and why we met. Â He will call though, if he needs the help. Â Heâs here to help.â
âLike I told you before, you canât help me if you donât believe me.â
âAnd like I told you, I never said I didnât.â
âWait,â Mulder whispers, putting his arm out and catching Agent Reyesâ wrist to stop her. Â âDo you see that?â
In the sky up ahead is a light, slowly moving closer, growing larger. Â He thought at first it might be a shooting star, but itâs not falling across the sky, itâs heading towards them.
âI see it,â Agent Reyes says. Â âWhat is it?â
âIâm not sure.â Â
Mulder steps ahead and holds his arm up over his head to block the light from his eyes. Â His heart pounds with hopeful anticipation, but it soon becomes apparent whatâs approaching them is a helicopter. Â He deflates a little and drops his arm as he turns to Agent Reyes. Â Thereâs a look of deep sympathy in her eyes when he looks at her.
The helicopter descends and Agent Doggett hops out, beckoning to the two of them. Â Agent Reyes comes forward and pauses next to Mulder. Â She doesnât say anything, letâs him make the decision to cooperate and follow her, which he does. Â She gets into the helicopter and he pulls himself inside as well, Agent Doggett behind them both.
âWe didnât recover a body from the bottom of the canyon,â Agent Doggett shouts over the noise of the helicopter. Â âAnd we havenât been able to reach AD Skinner.â
âWhen was the last time you spoke to him?â Mulder asks.
âAs he was putting the boy in the SUV. Â Iâve got men searching the hospital now, but they canât find him.â
âCan we land there?â
âGuess weâll find out.â
*****
The hospital seems to be even smaller than the school, and equally as quiet. Â The only staff is a doctor and a night nurse and a janitor. Â One of the task force agents meets the helicopter as it lands on the highway and drives them across the main road to the building. Â Agent Shaffer, who drove Skinner and Gibson to the hospital, is posted outside of Gibsonâs room on watch.
âSir,â Agent Shaffer says to Agent Doggett as the trio approaches Gibsonâs room.
âYou were the last to see AD Skinner?â Â Agent Doggett asks him.
âI entered the hospital with AD Skinner and the boy,â he confirms. Â âAD Skinner hasnât been seen since leaving this room to take a phone call approximately half an hour ago.â
âAny idea who that phone call was from?â Â Agent Doggett asks.
âNo, Sir.â
âHe wouldnât leave,â Mulder says. Â âHeâs still here.â
âSo, weâll do another search,â Agent Reyes says.
âI want to talk to Gibson,â Mulder says.
Agent Doggett seems to mull the request over, his piercing blue eyes staring hard at Mulder. Â He finally nods once and turns to Agent Shaffer. Â âNo one enters or leaves this room,â he says, glancing at Mulder. Â âYou got that?â
âYes, Sir.â
âMonica, youâll search with me.â
Mulder slips into Gibsonâs room and watches through the small window beside the door as Agents Doggett and Reyes head down the hall. Â Agent Shaffer blocks the door with his body and assumes a crossed-arm pose. Â Mulder rolls his eyes a little as he turns around. Â Gibson is lying in a hospital bed that makes him look even smaller than he is, his leg propped up in a fresh white cast, eyes closed.
âGibson?â Mulder says, moving closer to the hospital bed. Â He can tell the boy isnât sleeping, but feigning.
Gibson opens his eyes. Â âI donât know where Agent Scully is,â he says.
âI know they have her. Â But, I donât know where.â
âDo you know if sheâs close?â
âIâm sorry Agent Mulder, I canât tell you anything.â
âCan you tell me what they want with you?â
âThey want what anyone wants, to study me, keep me like a lab rat, cut me open, kill me if they have to.â
âGibson, no one wants...youâre not a lab rat.â
âSure. Â The only reason youâre in here is because sheâs gone.â
âYes, I want to find Agent Scully, but I want to protect you too, Gibson.â
âYou know, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.â
âIâm certifiable, Gibson.â
Gibson snorts, but it isnât with humor, itâs with derision. Â He shakes his head a little and looks away. Â Mulder pulls a plastic chair over to the side of the bed and sits down. Â Heâs starting to feel the effects of the lack of sleep, food, and water on his body. Â He still has the headache that started in the desert and now his bloodshot eyes are starting to feel dry and irritated.
Suddenly, Gibson turns his head again, sharply, like he was startled by a noise. Â He sits up and Mulder straightens, turning his head in the direction Gibson is staring. Â The boy is listening to something, Mulderâs sure of it.
âWhat is it?â Mulder asks.
âItâs coming,â Gibson answers.
Mulder looks around the room for a place to hide. Â The window is too small to climb out of. Â The cupboards next to the bed are too narrow. Â Itâs too late anyway, the door opens and Skinner walks in. Â Behind him, Mulder sees Agent Shaffer, slumped on the floor. Â He pulls Gibson from the bed and stands in front of him, backing up slowly as Gibson hobbles behind him on his cast.
âAgent Doggett!â Â Mulder yells. Â âAgent Reyes!â
The thing thatâs posing as Skinner moves slowly, but purposefully towards Mulder. Â Mulder stands his ground and blocks the thing from reaching Gibson. Â The imposter reaches out and grabs Mulder by the throat. Â Mulder scratches ineffectually at the hand choking him.
âStop,â Mulder wheezes, just before heâs lifted into the air by his neck and tossed to the side. Â He hits his head and his shoulder. Â Thereâs an explosion of pain throughout his entire body. Â He manages to stand, though his knees are shaking and heâs seeing double.
âWhat the hell is this?â Agent Doggett shouts, rushing into the room with his gun drawn. Â âGet away from the boy!â
âBase of the neck,â Mulder croaks, losing his balance and stumbling against the cupboards. Â
Itâs Agent Reyes that fires, her aim remarkably accurate. Â The bullet hole oozes a sizzling green sludge. Â The body falls and moments later, begins to liquify. Â Agent Doggett stands perplexed, a look of shock and horror on his face. Â Gibson is huddled against the wall, inching away to escape the toxic blood that pools closer to his feet.
âJohn, the boy,â Agent Reyes says.
Doggett holsters his weapon and rushes over to Gibson, stepping over the liquid corpse to escort the boy to a safer place. Â Agent Reyes goes to Mulder, who has lost the ability to stand and has slumped against the side of the bed.
âIt can look like whoever it wants to,â she says. Â âIsnât that what you said?â
Mulder nods and his throat tightens with a surge of nausea. Â
âWe just found AD Skinner in a storage closet,â she continues. Â âHe was unconscious, but alive.â
When the world knows beauty as beauty, ugliness arises
When it knows good as good, evil arises
Thus being and non-being produce each other
Difficult and easy bring about each other
Long and short reveal each other
High and low support each other
Music and voice harmonize each other
Front and back follow each other
Therefore the sages:
Manage the work of detached actions
Conduct the teaching of no words
They work with myriad things but do not control
They create but do not possess
They act but do not presume
They succeed but do not dwell on success
It is because they do not dwell on success
That it never goes away
