Most of the time, you hear about strokes in older adults. But strokes can happen at any age! My little sister, who is fifteen years old and a freshman in high school, had a stroke in utero (while my mom was pregnant with her). We didn't know until she began to walk early, rather than crawl like a normal kid. She had a blood clot in her brain that caused a lot of damage to the right side of her brain. She has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, vision issues, and other learning disabilities. But oh my gosh, she is one of the most amazing kids. I've also met a lot of other kids who were victims of Pediatric Stroke through the Children's Hemiplegia and Stroke Association (CHASA). Some were babies when they had their strokes, others were toddlers, and some were even teenagers.
