So prospect100 collaborated with the actual tmnt account and together they hosted a redesign the TMNT contest! And i entered!

I was initially very hesitant and nervous, I'm not really much of an artist. But my love for turtles basically said fuck it and I did it anyway.

I don't care about winning, but I'm grateful they motivated me to draw again. So without further ado...

These are my turtles sons! I'll write a little info on each of them/backstory/other ramblings below)

Leonardo (nn: Leo or Romeo) is probably the design I didn't change too much. He's a 17 year old yellow bellied slider, and the reluctant leader of the group of young heroes.

Leo initially wanted to go solo and explore the surface by himself. He wanted to challenge himself as a ninja and didn't want his little brothers to tag along and drag him down.

But Splinter convinced him to bring his brothers along, and after a near death experience with an escaped mutant, he realized how well they worked together and officially decided to lead the team. He was never appointed leader, but as the oldest he felt obliged to and takes charge at every opportunity. Which leads him to being a slightly overprotective, paranoid workaholic.

But that doesn't mean he's a complete stick in the mud. Despite living in the sewers for most of his life, he's the most charming and witty of the turtles. He's a total flirt (usually fails at it though).

He's also extremely traditional and later on wears a belt with the Hamato clan symbol (either that or a henna tattoo, haven't really decided).

His weapon of choice is a tachi blade passed down by Splinter.

Raphael (nn Raph) a 16 year old Loggerhead Sea Turtle and the only non freshwater turtle. His backstory is different, since he was mutated separate from his brothers. He was taken from an aquarium as an egg and experimented on before he was found by Splinter.

He's less of a hothead, more crude and sarcastic who frequently teases his siblings (mostly Leo) like the caring brother he is. He has a bit of a temper still, but it's reserved for fighing villains and when he's provoked by them.

Because of his species, he needs to be hydrated. For instance he sleeps in a kiddie pool, and during trips topside he brings several water bottles with him at all times. It's only until later that Donnie constructs him with some water device (maybe a backpack of some sorts) to keep hydrated. Sea turtles can survive on land but he still needs water.

His weapon of choice is twin sai, however they might be upgraded to a trident idk.

Donatello (nn Donnie or Dee) is a 15 year old Diamondback terrapin. He's the most quiet and reserved of his brothers, rarely ever speaking unless needed to. He's more of a bookworm than a natural born scientist at first, only really using his talents for inventing later on. His skills improve over time essentially.

He's extremely shy and the most anxious around meeting any new allies- especially the humans such as April and Casey. When he gets overwhelmed, he often hides in his shell and has to be comforted by one of his brothers. But he grows to be more confident thanks to Raph's reassurance and more time spent with people, he becomes the sass master we know and love.

His weapon of choice is a metal bō staff with a converted naginata blade.

(Side note: Donnie has always been my favorite so I picked him to be a diamond back terrapin- my state's reptile.)

Michelangelo (nn Mikey or Angie) is a 14 year old painted turtle (I know I'm soooo creative) . Personality wise, he's relatively the same. He's the most social of his brothers next to Leo and loves making new friends- especially with other mutants.

Since he's the youngest, he's also pretty immature and naive, but he isn't dumb. He has an innocent viewpoint of the world and always assumes the best in others, even the villains that they face. He just wants to be accepted most of all.

Talent wise, he loves gymnastics, baking, and painting. He loves to paint on his shell especially and make it look pretty.

His weapon of choice is nunchucks, with confetti smoke bombs provided by Donnie.
