A little more info on what I have in mind for my 'Wright to Remain Silent' AU
Turnabout Memory spoilers for anyone who hasn't played it yet.
Basically, we all know Feenie swallows the glass bottle, and he specifically says how he "...had to chew it into little bits first,..." meaning that this man swallowed glass shards with small traces of poison.
What I'm thinking is that he obviously would have scratched up his throat and vocal cords doing that, and maybe the poison could have furthered that damage.
Bleeding from the mouth, Feenie would need to be taken to the hospital to get treated, probably postponing the trial. At the hospital, they would tell him how the glass and poison has damaged his throat and he may not be able to speak again for months, if at all.
The trial would be resumed when he's been treated, maybe the next day, and Phoenix would need to continue his testimony through writing. The rest of Turnabout Memory would probably play as normal with Dahlia getting convicted.
Unfortunately for Phoenix, now with the possibility of being unable to speak ever again, his dreams to possibly becoming a lawyer, or even an actor, have been crushed.
Mia eventually convinces him that he can still help in the legal field by becoming a paralegal.
From what I understand, they basically still do legal work, they just can't represent in court. They help the acting attorney out with investigations and files and such.
By becoming a paralegal, Phoenix could still work under the law, helping people, he simply would have to work behind Mia.
-
That's sorta the basics I have right now about it. Still needs some modifying, but I have some smaller concepts for PWAA, like:
- Phoenix communicates through written notes and ASL
- He's basically Mia's "weird girl"
- His face is definitely still very projective of his inner thoughts
- Narumitsu is definitely a part of it (Phoenix writing Edgeworth notes/letters is so cute to me)
Maybe I'll make some comics. We'll see, but I'll definitely make some more doodles.
Let me know if you guys want more :D
Oh, underpaid worker who has nothing to do with the horrors occurring in the haunted building they're sent to work at. Gotta be my favorite gender of horror game protagonist
I'd love to hear about your Wright to Remain Silent. Like- does it still play out like with Mia dying? How does Narumitsu come about? I hope Phoenix meets Maya and they become besties
I'm so sorry again for the time gap, this is a long one and I wanted to think about it properly.
- Firstly: I'm still not 100% sure if I will have Mia die or not
The biggest problem I run into with this is the fact that technically Phoenix can't represent himself or Maya like in the original game. Paralegals don't have the ability to represent in court.
My work arounds for this would be using someone else to represent them (but that seems sorta boring) or have Maya be a lawyer too?
But, this is Ace Attorney, so I can see them maybe making an exception? Still don't know yet :)
There are plenty of AUs that don't kill her off too, so, we'll see.
- Secondly: Narumitsu/ Wrightworth coming about
I've thought of this a lot because obviously this needs to be a thing in my AU
I like the idea that Phoenix and Edgeworth would see each other a lot in court with Phoenix as a paralegal.
I don't know why, in the games, it wasn't until he became a lawyer that they ever bumped into each other, but realistically, they would see each other a lot in the courtroom.
Like passing ships in the night
I'm also gonna make it so that they only roughly remember each other from childhood.
Why?
I like it this way.
Finally, I'm thinking Edgeworth would fall first.
He sees Mia walking around with her paralegal. The man is a little messy, clumsy, but he's clearly pretty effective in what he does.
He's vaguely familiar, like a boy he once knew, but this man doesn't seem to talk much.
I like to think that Edgeworth would actively start to learn ASL to try and communicate with Phoenix better once he finds out he doesn't speak.
One day, he approaches him and nervously goes about trying to talk to him and read the hand signs. Phoenix sees it as extremely thoughtful that he would try to learn and walks him through it <3
They become very good "friends".
I've got more silly things about them, but I'll save it for later.
- Lastly: Maya and Phoenix absolutely would be best of friends
Sort of like how I believe Mia and Edgeworth would learn sign for Phoenix, Maya would also learn it and become a pro.
They would probably make jokes behind people's backs.
Probably pass notes like middle schoolers.
I adore their friendship/sibling dynamic.
I forgot how much of a jerk Edgeworth is in the first trials.
I love him for that
