So I keep seeing people getting upset over the fact that Harry told Macy that she deserves whatever/whomever her heart desires, but then he gets upset when he sees her kissing Julian.

I completely understand where they are coming from. However, Harry’s allowed to be sad or upset when he sees Macy move on or be with another guy. Just because he wants her to have what she wants doesn’t mean that he can’t be sad when it’s not him. He still has feelings for her. He can’t just bury his feelings and act like he’s totally super happy that she chose another guy.

What he said he will do, though, is allow her to be with him without pestering her about it. By saying that she deserves whomever she wants, he’s inadvertently saying that he’s going to back off. He won’t complain about it, he won’t pester her about it, etc.

But he is still allowed to be upset/sad when he sees her move on. We all would be. Imagine seeing someone that you’re madly in love with, kissing someone else. You won’t do anything about it because you can see they’re happy, but you’re heart will still break.
