Spirit Trees...
Char and I lived in a forest of huge (60+ feet tall) hackberry trees, some with trunks you couldn’t reach around. Interspersed among them, mostly down by the creek, were a family of ancient Pecan trees. They all lost their leaves in winter, and under a full moon, our forest took on an other-worldly appearance. Char was inspired by these trees and began to paint them as soon as she moved out there to be with me in ‘97. There were several dozen canvases and sketches devoted to them. She called them “Spirit Trees” with a number. This is one of the first of the Spirit Trees paintings...and the first one we ever had made into prints and cards.
Please visit the GoGetFunding Campaign page for my book project, Char To The World <https://goget.fund/2Zg7bqi> It will be a “Coffee-Table” sized art book, with insight from the one who knew her best.
And please follow the tumblr I have set up for the project as well <https://chartotheworld.tumblr.com/> as it will be updated regularly as I complete my photography of her work and continue writing.
