Restlessness has been getting the better of Carol. Until recently, there was always, always, something that needed to be done. A new policy to be enacted. Denizens to hear out. The (decidedly useless) Police force to reorganize the infrastructure of for the dozenth time. Is Ice-E's an eyesore that needs to be renovated for the good of the community? Noelle’s latest fright to smite. Informing Asgore and Kris of the next steps in their—….See. here. This. This is exactly the problem.
There is nothing at all that can be done. Not now. And dwelling on futilities is–well–futile. It is best to ignore the sting.
This is what brings her to this wooded area in the middle of the night. Sleeping is clearly a nonfactor. She has had everything taken from her and was given a wooden sword as some sick joke from the powers that be. Still, she has it with her tonight, mostly because it is all she has. While the weight of it feels heavy, awkward, she holds it out in front of her, and, concentrating, begins a sword dance she is inclined to fall into when she finds herself in such an inconvenient state of mind.
Even if this sword is dull as any block of wood-at least she can remain sharp. Just as Carol turns her body with the silent rhythm-there is a rustle in the bushes. Her focus breaks, and she aims her sorry excuse of a "blade" at the one who approaches. Frost creeps up the hilt as she grips it tightly.
“Don't approach any further. If you have business, state it. Otherwise about face. And l e a v e. I am not here to talk."
But wait. Auburn hair…devilish red eyes…a humble stripped shirt. A young teen. Too young to be who this by all accounts should be. And yet. Aside from those bright rosy-red cheeks, this kid bears such an eerie resemblance to a certain gremlin from years ago. She can just imagine them looking up at her with that infuriatingly blank expression while she interrogates them: Why did you think it was acceptable to decorate my daughter’s hair with gum?
Completely knocked for a loop, Carol’s blue eyes abruptly widen. The name escapes her.
