Atreus had been invited to stay at Palace by the King—being a friend of the royal family had it’s benefits. He was due to head back to the Circle within the next few days but he could always make time for his majesty the king. Coming straight from the Chantry, clad in his full Templar Regalia Atreus had decided he would freshen up before meeting with the King of Starkhaven.

Armour had been placed upon the provided stand and he’d soon bathed and cleaned himself up and he was about to start dressing into something appropriate for dinner when he heard a small voice.

The Knight Commander turned towards it, piercing blue hues taking note of where his sword was, before he relaxed when he saw it was only Sebastian.

“Whit are ye doin’ in here ur Mòrachd Rìoghail?” He dipped his head in a little bow. It wasn’t the first time the young prince had sought him out and Atreus doubted it would be the last.

With a small wave of his free hand he ushered Sebastian to sit down before he vanished behind the privacy screen to change.

   Following the old man’s invitation, the young prince quickly closed the door, before he climbed on a chair and wriggled until he as properly seated against the backrest, his legs swinging idly. As he answered the question, he looked at the screen, waiting for the templar to finally come out and properly talk with him.

   ❝Máthair[1] is mad ‘at Ah put frogs in braar’s[2] bed. She threatened to tell athair[3]❞, his little Highness explained with a bored voice. But despite his put on indifference, his tiny hands nervously kneaded the hem of his tunic, an obvious sign of great distress for the little prince.

   ❝Athair is very busy these days. He doesnae want tae be bothered wit’ mah wee pranks. If braar hadn’t snitched- Ah jist donae want athair tae git mad wit’ me too.❞

   The Prince of Starkhaven demanded respect among his peers, but in his youngest son, he mostly instilled fear. There was reason, why Sebastian avoided his father on days, where he seemed restless or stressed in general - Reasons carrying names like ‘being grounded’, ‘prohibited archery training’ and, worst of all, ‘The Cane’. So when his mother threatened to inform his father of his ill behavior, Sebastian’s initial reaction was to run away. Only that the little prince, knew no other places but the palace, yet. So he fleed to the only one of two people that he conected with a sense of safety: Knight Commander Atreus Melchor.

Hawke laughed lightly as Sebastian shoved him.  He’d dropped by after a mission, needing to deliver some lost letter to one of the many Nobles in Hightown he had found while out with Varric, Aveline and Carver.  It wasn’t his fault they’d ran into a lot of trouble while out.  Also wasn’t his fault Albarie, his ever faithful Mabari and companion, had found the perfect carcass to roll in - nice and rotted for weeks when he had found it - then promptly jumped on Hawke afterwards since that was the perfect time for prime affections.

“Give me a bit of a break Sebastian.”  Hawke righted himself with a wide smile, adjusting his staff back into it’s proper position after it had fallen out of place from that shove.  Of course he had to adjust his chestpiece as well and his own nose wrinkled at the smell he exuded. “I’ve had bandits, Qunari and Darkspawn up my arse for nearly an entire day now plus a Mabari who happens to enjoy rolling in whatever filth he can find along the way.  I assure you I’m heading straight home for a bath after I deliver this letter I found.  But I haven’t seen you for awhile and I figured a friendly greeting was in order first and foremost.”

   ❝Eet’s nae a friendly greetin’ if yer smell is trayin’ tae assassinate me!❞, Sebastian countered unforgiving. Turning he waved for Hawke to follow him further into the Chantry. ❝Please tell me, ye donae truly intend tae step before any noble in Hightown while smelling like somethin’ ‘at crawled out of a druffallo’s behind!❞ He did not await the man’s answer, because he knew him well enough by now to know it would be most unsatisfactory to the brother.

   Instead, he turned down a corridor, that was usually restricted to the clerical personell and eventually stopped before a door, that looked quite private. Opening it with a key, he lead the mage into what seemed to be Sebastian’s personal chamber: A small room sparsely furnished with a small bed, an equally small writing desk and a paper-screen boxing off a small area that seemed to be serving as Sebastian’s bath room. The latter was, to which Sebastian gestured with a firm glare.

   ❝Go clean yerself up. Ah’ll lend yersel’ some of mah ole clothes. They mightnae be fittin’ perfectly, but at least they only smell of dust. Ye can leave yer clothes here. Ah get them delivered to yer house per runner.❞

When Teagan asked Sebastian to come along, he noticed that the other man looked a bit pale. Sebastian hadn’t mentioned it and appeared to be alright, so Teagan hadn’t pushed. But towards the end of the quest, Sebastian had looked paler and his shots weren’t as accurate as they normally were. That said something, and Teagan’s guard was up, eyes glancing over to Sebastian to make sure the archer was okay.

He turned when Sebastian asked to take a break, preparing to say ‘yes, of course, whatever you need’ when the archer fell. “Shit.” Without thought, Teagan darted forward and caught him before he could hit the road, arms under his armpits. Checking the man’s forehead with his wrist, he winced at how clammy it was. Sebastian’d been neglecting himself. “Alright, we’ll make it back on our own time.” He told Merrill and Aveline, shifting Sebastian to a cradle hold. “You two head back. We’ll be alright.”

Then he looked down at the waking man and sighed with relief. “Thank the Maker you’re alright. You passed out.” He said softly, adjusting the hold. Thank the Maker he’d been working out. “Come on, I’ll take you home.

   ❝I-? Oh.❞ Sebastian felt his cheeks heat up with embarassment, as he realized how he must have caused a scene with his sudden show of weakness. Even more so, as he realized that he was safely tucked into Hawke’s arms, like a fainting damsel in distress.

❝I’m sorry❞, he muttered, struggling to get back on his feet again to not be so much of a burden to the man, ❝I can walk. Dinna fesh yerse![1] I was jist feelin’ a bit under th’ heat is aw.❞ An obvious lie, but one Sebastian felt obligated to tell, if only because he dreaded being considered a sick burden.

“Sorry,” Lisbeth shook her head, “Someone was following me, I was hoping that maybe if he thought someone would miss me if I disappeared he’d leave me alone,” She shook her head, “You’re one of Hawke’s friends, aren’t you? The Chantry lad? Name’s Lisbeth, I arrived in Kirkwall recently, Hawke managed to persuade the templars that the girl with the bow and the knives wasn’t a mage,” she chuckled and shook her head, “Do they suspect everyone around here?”

   ❝I am friends with Hawke, aye. Brother Sebastian Vael, at yer service, but please donae try to pull such a trick with me again. Bein’ suspected of illicit affairs with someone from th’ clerical cast can get ye in much different kind of troubles, than bein’ suspected of apostasy. And me as well, while we’re at eet.❞
