[...]
in the army and their pokerfaced leader, taehyung found yet another source of thrill, something he had been lacking for quite a long time. the fact that he was generally regarded as a kid with no knowledge of the field - which ultimately wasn’t so far from the truth - was but an advantage, as none of those assassins considered him an actual threat, only pointing a gun to his nose whenever he ventured too deep in matters that were none of his business, in hopes of scaring him away. but taehyung always came back, as their leader was an intriguing individual and he wasn’t willing to miss on all the fun that he could grant him.
eventually changwook - he learnt the guy’s name from a rather talkative assassin, the kind who’d follow his leader’s commands to his very own demise - started giving him occasional jobs, as he had demonstrated his skills by sneaking into their headquarters a couple times in the past. the offer sure was appealing to the boy, who wouldn’t mind getting his hands dirty for a proper meal and some action. that one day though, he was aching for some real adventure - as per usual - and the older seemed way too absorbed in his paperwork to notice. all those numbers and symbols were giving him a headache, hence why he started looking around the older’s office, in which he had been summoned.
“oh c’mon, does that mean you called me for nothin’? even the likes of me have better places to be in at this hour.” the visible frown etched in the other’s features caused him to crack a mocking smile in return, the sound of his scribbling slowly lulling him into boredom. though the reward was no big thing, he wasn’t expecting any more than that, his tone rather monotone, dry even, as he spoke again. “doesn’t sound so bad-- i’m quite hungry, actually.” arms folded across his chest, taehyung rested his back against the wall, as chestnut brown eyes scanned the room he was slowly starting to be familiar with; not the coziest of places, that was for certain- but after having the streets as your one only shelter, you reconsider your pickiness. while lost in thought, changwook’s voice suddenly cut through the silence; ah, yes, finally something he wanted to hear. “a little task, eh? have i ever failed you, big guy? you just tell me where the heck am i supposed to go, and i’ll do the rest.” he then allowed a pause after which he added, a somewhat amused grin now gracing his lips, “i know, i know. no questions. not my business.”
