Day 1: Changing Fate / Three;
A headcanon; the reason why The Fate Engine does not work is that humans are too complex; shaped by their Past, dreaming of their Future and living in the Present, fate is as fickle as water through a sieve. You cannot control the actions of others, only influence them a little.
Similarly, too much meddling via the Atlantean power of turning human will and thought into power means that, as Hitomi learned, if your emotions are clouded or troubled, your outcomes are also this way.
This theme is repeated through the series, even, up to the Newtonian Laws of Motions and Physics, hence his feeling that he could influence and control fate through this thought process; we see this a lot in the series. So my headcanon is that Fate cannot be as manipulated as anyone thinks in the series, because it true isnโt some sort of prophecy or inescapable thing, it is truly the choices a person makes.
Itโs just an interesting thought! Watch the series again and keep Newtonโs laws in mind, and you start to see other layers.
