The worst parts about having to wipe my phone's memory for a repair:
- I did everything I could to avoid having to reset, so it was heartbreaking when I realized I had no choice
- Every photo had already been backed up, but the folders I'd sorted them into no longer existed
- It reset all my gestures and shortcuts. Even though it's the same phone, every missed input felt like trying to use a limb that wasn't there
- All the saved words and predictions in my keyboard's personal dictionary were wiped. All my inside jokes were gone
- Each part of this was intensified by the fact that I'd recently rewatched CJ the X's video on cyborgs and people's relationship to tech and the internet
