I know there's no festival around now,and I can't wait till the next Durga Puja/Navratri to post this...

She is a young woman married to the rishi Uddalaka, most likely without her consent.

During her marriage, the priests try to make her promise to always submit to her husband. In protest, she makes a vow to always do the exact opposite of whatever her husband tells her to do.

She was young enough that, for a few years, Uddalaka did not make her do any housework and handled it all himself (should not have married her in the first place, but I digress).

When her husband asks her to cook, she destroys the kitchen. When her husband asks her to worship the fire for getting children, she furiously declares she doesn't need any (I love her). When Uddalaka asks her to share a bed with him, she storms out of their house to go stand outside through the night (how did people not realize that she's hurting?).

One day the rishi Kaundinya comes to visit Uddalaka, and tells him to tell Chandi to do the opposite of whatever he wants her to do. Bound by her own vow, Chandi is forced to obey him in a roundabout way for some time, until Uddalaka can perform a shraadhha for his father.
