Challenge Weekend (April 25th through 26th)
This is the largest participation with which you, as a fan, can make the most difference.
Create fanworks (headcanons, meta, fanart, fanfic, remix fic, etc.) that resist and fight to decrease these issues in fandom.
Write fanfic where Abbie Mills is gets to have some domesticity.
Draw fan art of POC characters that resists lightening their skin tone.
Remix old fic to fix previous flaws as a way of showing yourself (and others) how awesome fic can be without relying on these themes.
Headcanon ideas that imagine all the characters complexly without letting them become a single tone character.
Write posts about how canon could correct these issues.
Read and promote fanworks tagged #criticalfanweek.
Read, kudo, and comment on Ao3 stories posted in our collection.
Retweet posts and fic shared through our twitter.
And when the weekend is over, keep in mind the things that have been discussed and laid bare.
Take these ideas and apply them to future canon and fandom to, hopefully, spread the idea that being a critical fan is one of the best ways to participate in fandom.
Examining flaws within our own groups, in our own perspectives, can make fandom a better and less prejudice place. Go forth and Be a Critical Fan!
