Third day of Descendants Week 2024 @descendantsweek
The Little Prince and the Mad Scientist

The week following the ball wasn't that bad, even though Chad can't stop thinking about it all. But his "sin" will catch up to him .
The initial week following that party wasn't too terrible. Chad continues to feel quite down and miserable. He's somewhat apprehensive about being gay, concerned about others finding out or even worst if people are already aware. He's afraid of anyone 's eyes on him, and he wishes it's just a nightmare. He’s somewhat scared about encountering his grandfather once more. Ben is here for him, obviously, but he also has duties and his own life to deal with. Chad doesn't really feel like being alone, and it's not like he has many friends. Nevertheless, it turns out that he never actually finds himself alone for an entire day. He always gets caught by a red-haired girl and her very handsome -sexy- best friend, who rarely lifts his gaze from his book. (And don't forget the caiman; Ceasar always tags along). It shouldn't be a problem. Actually, Chad enjoys being with Iz, even though the scientist seems to have a clear dislike for him. However, the issue is that Spin is constantly present, and now Chad is convinced they are pitying him. Why would they even do that? They are VKs. Iz lacks sensitivity, while Spin seems to be always playing a game with everyone. Chad really doesn't want to raise his hopes; in fact, he doesn't want that. It's hard enough to not be straight, let alone fall for a VK, and what a VK! He's full of himself, proud, narcissistic, egocentric, condescending... A bit like Chad but smarter. Plus, Chad feels like a fool for that silly hug. Why did he do that? It was foolish, and he was still mad at him. What changed? Nothing. And it’s the worst. Does Iz know? Probably. Iz usually knows better, or maybe Spin knows and told him. Regardless, following that day, Iz's behavior remained the same. Chad would prefer if Iz pushed him away instead of ignoring him like this. Maybe he doesn't know, after all. At the very least, Chad being gay doesn't seem like an issue whatsoever. And Chad has to admit he stands up for him about that, even if it was his fault in the first place and the scientist doesn't seem to make a big deal out of it. Like it wasn't that important after all. It is for Chad. After all, he only had his sexual crisis that same day and wasn't even really sure of anything. And how did Iz know that before him?
"You're spiralling again..." Iz's voice reaches Chad's ears while the boy with white hair doesn't even glance up. "Apologies for disturbing your focus again..." Chad lets out a passive-aggressive snort. "You're gay, and so what? I'm pretty sure your friend Ben doesn't mind." Chad feels his heart ache slightly at that. "Izkandar, darling, I'm not sure it's about our furred King." Once more, Spin's word stung. He saw that coming; he didn't think he would get attached at all. There are no indications of fondness, only disdain or perhaps indifference in Iz's demeanor towards him, so why does it hurt? Is it because he can read him? Or just because sometimes he thinks he cares, even if just slightly? Or is it because he stands by him? He betrays him! Well, it wasn't exactly a betrayal since they aren't particularly close, but still. Chad must be a major masochist. He hates himself for that. He hears the clap of a shutting book, which draws Chad back to reality. "You're doing it again, Little Prince." At this moment, Iz is observing him, yet he doesn't appear to be truly angry. "Whose fault?" "Brain, hormones..." Izkandar starts listing before being interrupt. "No!... You know what I mean." "You still need to calm down." Iz reopens his book. "Why should I forgive you?" "I didn't say that you should. I said you should calm down." The blond looks puzzled and frowns. He anticipated that the scientist would fight back. "That's all?" "I’m not the one staying with someone I'm mad at, Chad..." Fair point. Chad exhales deeply and gets to his feet. He doesn't want to be alone, and he can't get over Spinelle's ‘that’s what friends are for’ words. He doesn't know what he was thinking. "I'm not asking you to leave either if that’s what you thought." Chad sits back and looks down again. "Then what?" "Like I said: calm down." Easier said than done. The prince can't shake any of this from his mind, and it’s consuming him. Iz exhales deeply, and Chad anticipates another comment, but instead, he hands him a blank sheet and a pen. "What's that for?" "Write it down if you don't want to talk, or draw something, or whatever, but get it out of your head for good; it's annoying..." It's weird because Chad is silent and doesn't bother anyone, and he's still annoying the scientist with his problems. "Or talk. You can go to Ben for that, or even talk to us if you want, but stop that." Chad catches the fondness in Spinelle 's smile toward Iz, and it doesn't help. How the hell will he tell them about that part? Them or anyone? No way. He's humiliated enough already.
"It's just..." He pauses, unsure if Izkandar is truly paying attention. "...nothing..." "It's not nothing, but whatever, " Iz answers, clearly listening even if he's also reading at the same time. Chad hesitates again; he's not sure he can really trust them. Weirdly, he has more trust in Iz since he outed him than before, which makes no sense.
It's nearly the end of the week when Ben meets Chad again. Ben has been a little distant, and Chad has worried. "Why didn't you tell me?" Ben inquires, pained in his tone. Chad is quiet for a while and gives a shrug. "Told you what?" "You were gay. I would have supported you, you know. I thought we were best friends, and... and your new friends seem to already know..." Once more, Chad take his time, gazing at the ground. "I didn't know..." He takes a deep breath and looks at the ceiling. "I... I don't even know. I... and I have no clue how this... ‘bastard’ found out. I didn’t; why did he!?" He starts rambling again, concerned about the whole situation. He doesn't want to lose his friend. Ben stands up just to sit beside him. "Chad, it's okay ... What happened then? What did Izkandar do?" Chad sighs, irritated. He's not sure how to explain it, and how it would seem that he still spends time with him. "He kind of outed me, and I wasn't ready, nor was I ready to admit it to myself, I guess." He looks at Ben with a sad smile, and Ben gives him a sympathetic look. "He really sounds like a jerk now. I should have listened to you..." Chad shakes his head. "No, he's not... Well... He kind of is, but not really... you know..." He hisses at his own words. How desperate does it sound? Ben looks away for a moment and begins to ponder, uncertain about how to reply. "You like him, right?" Chad's eyes widen in shock. "What? Wait... N-nooo! Noooo! Why would I... No!" And he doesn't sound convincing at all, according to Ben's chuckle. "Oh god, you really do." It's a statement from a best friend. Chad sighs again. "Maybe..." He looks down. "But why? This is stupid; I'm stupid. He is... you know! And..." Yes, Izkandar doesn't look like the best match. He's not even nice to him. And now he feels even worse and more stupid. "You're not stupid, Chad. You know how mysterious guys can sometimes look appealing." Chad blushes a bright shade of red. Maybe it's not just that. He hated him at first and only fell for him after getting to know him, and once again it makes no sense. "I guess I'm a fucking masochist." He laughs softly. Ben elbows him playfully. "You'll get over him eventually. You'll find someone better." Chad isn't sure he wants to find someone else or if he can have anyone better. Look at him; he's a stupid prince who uses people for his own benefit and keeps complaining about not following the rules or about VKs with no manners. He’s probably one of the most annoying guys in the whole school. He’s pretty sure most people only pretend to like him or support him because he's a prince. That's all. And in some way, Izkandar, one of the most socially difficult people on earth who seems hell of selective in his friendships, talks to him. Chad never really thought about that part, but sometimes he wonders where his real friends are. There is Ben, of course, and he's on good terms with Doug, Evie, Jay, and Carlos, but he's not sure they'll stand up for him or worry about him, let alone be there for him when he needs someone. And even if it's only because Spin made it happen, she and her hot best friend are here for him in some way. For someone like Chad, who has always held certain biases against VKs, it feels odd, and Iz 's personality doesn't help. "I'm pretty sure he's with Spinelle anyway..." Ben pats his back.
The week eventually comes to an end, and Chad has to meet his grandfather again. He kept it to himself and somewhat wishes he hadn't. He really doesn't want to see him. He knocks on his grandfather's door and then opens it. His grandfather is occupied with documents and hardly pays him any mind. He glances at him, not very pleased. "Does anyone know?" He accuses him. Chad knows exactly what he means and reluctantly nods. His grandfather sighs with irritation. "So, everyone knows my descent is an aberration..." "No, not... not everyone, Grandfather." "Stop calling me that. I'm no longer your grandfather until you stop your silliness. Do you know how bad it would be for the family? It would bring shame upon us all! Have you considered what your dad might think? He would feel extremely disappointed! You're a disgrace to the family! And until this sin of yours is over, you're staying in your room! No contact, no phone, no internet, nothing!" He pauses, and Chad's distress deepens with every word, probably believing them. He fights back tears because crying would be the worst thing to do. "Men don't cry!" he yells. " That’s the reason I located a military camp for you. An excellent one. They will turn you into a man. You will go the following week! Now hand over your phone and leave!" Chad does so. He knew it would somehow end up like this. He knew he would never be accepted in his family. He knew all of that. He feels disgusting and ashamed. How could he do this to his family, to his father? What would his friends do? Probably nothing. No one will probably notice anyway. He's trapped and lonely.
