There's only 21 color covers, they stopped appearing after chapter 194 but they're so nostalgic. These are some of my favorites, I actually haven't seen half of these before. Chapter 45's color cover was so good it became the cover of Volume 6.
Fun details: In chapter 41's cover, Shanks has tiny scars on his ankles, I wonder if they appear again in the manga? In chapter 45, Nami's tattoo foreshadows her connection to Arlong. In chapter 56, Sanji is holding a pink drink that appears earlier in this spread.

Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 94
The impact is amazing in the manga. The first full spread is majestic, and then, the uproar of waves, blowing them all back, churn and turbulent over the waves until Juvia barely saves them. They’ve barely woken up into this situation, (wha ta nasty wake up call honestly,) so Juvia really came in clutch.
All these huge water shots really sell the sheer impact of the blast, unlike in the anime where they were already in Juvia’s orb of water when we see them.
And then, Juvia and Gray’s eyes are filled with horror at exactly what they’re seeing.
Also, since they didn’t get wet in the anime, we were robbed of Sho with his hair down lmao
I also want to mention that Lucy, injured and with her hair down for once, is drawn really pretty in this panel.
All hail Mashima’s art.

What I do like about Nami’s characterization is that the Arlong Park arc does not ‘cure’ her of her greed, rather it recontextualizes the reasoning behind it. Money is something that always has been, and always will be, important to her.
Nami has always been generous to those she considers her friends and family, especially if they are in genuine need. What changes is who she considers family and how quickly she’s able to develop deep friendships as she grows as a person. I don’t think Alabasta!Nami gets attached enough to Lola to give away a portion of her treasure so they can fix their busted ship, and East Blue!Nami certainly doesn’t.
One Piece is very subtle with its character development, with changes occurring slowly over hundreds and hundreds of chapters, often hidden behind recurring gags that are played for all their worth. “Nami want money” will always be the butt of a joke, and really considering her upbringing it would be strange if Nami didn’t hold on to material possessions a little harder than the rest of the crew. But there are too many instances of her being kind and giving that I get irked when I see her too-often mischaracterized as a shrill, heartless miser.
