Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 135 + 40
Making a random jump back here because I just noticed something. His weird pants have the same scaly look on his guild card. His design this arc contrasts Gray’s, but I actually forgot to compare it to his previous appearance since Sherry was so jarring.
Honestly the design itself hasn’t changed too much, his shirt still has the same pattern and he still wears the same amount of layers and all that. But what has changed is interesting. His shirt and cloak got shorter, I suppose for practicality, and also because as a design, he’s less dramatically relevant now so he doesn’t need an epic long coat to swish in the air anymore.
His collar is fur to ‘soften his features’ and make him look a bit more friendly, a treatment all redeemed villains receive.
And most of all, the armoured boots were changed. After he took off his helmet, this was the last explicitly ‘royal’ connotation in his design (for the ‘Cold Emperor’), so after Galuna, it was changed to explicitly display Lamia Scale’s namesake as his current allegiance.
