“If, uh, you ever want to use my situation anonymously, if someone doesn’t follow your advice, there’s, ehrm, a good chance that they end up overseas unhappy for two weeks,” Chloe said, sounding simultaneously bitter and optimistic. “But I think that I’m back for real now, and continuing to move in with Elle. Uhm, so what are you up to? I’d love to hear about what’s been interesting in your life.” It was only fair to be honest and not keep Ava wondering about what was happening, right? But Chloe did want to know about Ava’s life too.

Chloe bit down on her lip, and gave Ava an awkward wave. In the Meadows, she knew that Ava had tried to be helpful, and caring, and offer therapy. But Chloe hadn’t even tried to play along in most conversations- she had given one-word answers, sighed a lot, and oftentimes completely zoned out of conversations. And Chloe felt bad, which never sat well with her. Which is why she insisted on scheduling a real therapy appointment, and brought biscuits as a peace offering.

“I, uhm, hi! I don’t- There’s a lot going on, and I’m having trouble figuring out how to talk about it.” Chloe held up her tin of sweet treats. “I don’t, uh, know if there’s eating in here, but these are for you to uhm, uh... do what you want with. Sor- I- Hullo.” So far, Chloe did not think she was off to a great start, but she was trying.
