Memories and Loneliness-Agere!Sides AU! (pt.24)
Virgil felt so lonely and confused when he woke up in babyspace that day. Like, crashing within the lowest range of his headspace ages, lingering at around two years old, barely able to talk. He knew that Patton and Logan were in the imagination, and that Roman had cleared time for writing with Thomas. Meaning that he was alone in the core side Mind Palace.
He was so used to being taken care of, it felt weird trying to take care of himself. He opened the refrigerator, sighing in relief when he saw a sippy cup full of cinnamon milk, with a note on it.
'Incase Little Vee takes over while I'm gone. There is goldfish crackers on the counter, and applesauce in here-Roman and Patton'
He smiled, locating the little bowl, covered in stars, pulling the plastic lid off to get into the applesauce. He found a spoon and sat at the kitchen table, swinging his feet and humming as he ate. He didn't wanna do much until someone got back, he didn't want to make a mess or break any rules, even if his carer wasn't here. He thought back a few months, before he had told Roman and the others, when he hid away in his room and regressed all by himself. He thought back even farther to when Deceit took care of him. He whimpered at the mix of nostalgia and loneliness he felt. He climbed off of the chair and left the bowl there, his eyes filling up with tears.
He found his stuffed bear, sniffling and burying his face in it's fur. Loneliness was much to overwhelming for little Virgil, it why he was always cuddled up to somebody. He know that if he really needed it, he could call Patton and Logan. But he didn't want to interrupt their adventure. He didn't feel like getting his pacifier, he just curled up on his bed, holding his stuffed animal close. One of his rules was that he had to ask for something when he needed it, but no one was there to give him the affection he needed.

"And where do you think you're going, mister?" Remus blocked the door of the Dark Side Tower, not letting Deceit out of the commons.
"I know the rest of the core sides are busy, I just want to check on Virgil," he muttered. Deceit had no intention of interacting with Virgil for long, he just wanted to drop in, torment him a bit.
Remus deemed this response acceptable, sliding out of the way and letting Deceit out. "I'll probably interrupt Roman's writing spree with some dark idea," he shrugged, and Deceit nodded.
Deceit walked for a few minutes, and soon the atmosphere lighting shifted from dark, to sunny. He had entered the main part of the mind, farther in the distance, he could hear Logan and Patton giggling about something. He sighed, now able to use his magic, though he wasn't great at good magic. He managed to sink out, and appear in the kitchen of the Mind Palace. This made him wonder if Virgil had gotten the hang of light magic yet, as it was really hard to do in the dark corner of the mind.
"Virgilll!" he sang out, walking in the commons and noticing he wasn't there. He snapped his fingers and made his tune stop playing, "Vee?" he muttered.
He heard sniffling and whimpering coming from the bedrooms, and he hesitantly made his way towards the room he heard the noise from. "D-dee! Go away!" he heard a high voice sob out, obviously having trouble forming a sentence.
"Hey, hey, I'm sorry for scaring you," he opened the door to see the anxious and mentally-two year old side crying, holding a bear close.
"I'm not gonna mess with you, I promise. I was coming to check on you anyway, to make sure you're okay," He hesitantly came closer to the bed. He knew, based off of Virgil's reaction, that he was uncomfortable. He didn't sit down or anything. "Are you just crying because I'm here? I-I'll leave, Baby Vee, if that's it."
All he wanted was for Virgil to be okay. "K-kinda, but also..lonely,' he mumbled, bringing his thumb to his mouth and looking down.
"D-do you want me to stay until someone comes back? Do the others know?" Deceit was thrown off, and he was only gonna do whatever Virgil was comfortable with.
"Others know, Roro is my dada," Virgil seemed to pipe up, giggling at that. "N' da others take care of me too, all da time," he blushed when he realized how much he was talking. Deceit was just glad to see the tears drying up.
"Well, I'm glad you have support, and people to take care of you," Deceit was trying his best to be soft, falling right back into his old caregivery ways. "Now, do you want me to stay, or go find one of the others for you?"
"N-no! Don't find others, Ro is workin' n' Lo and Pat having fun! I be fine..," he hesitated, looking at Deceit. "Y-you can stay." he decided.
Deceit nodded, "Okay. Have you eaten?" he was hesitant, but he sat on the end of the bed.
"Roro left applesauce for me..I didn't eat it all tho. When I eat I'm supposed to eat as much as I can, b-but I got sad and just wanted stuffie!" he defended, as if Deceit was gonna punish him.
"Are you still hungry, bud?" he asked, Virgil nodded a bit. "Lets go make something then."
Virgil got up, and Deceit pulled his hand away from his mouth. "If the others know, I'm assuming you have little gear? Do you have pacifiers?"
Virgil blushed, nodding and pulling the plastic box out from under the bed. It was full of decorated pacifiers. Okay, he may have been a bit spoiled, but he appreciated every single thing he was awarded with. Though, he did have an issue accepting awards without feeling like he didn't deserve it.
"Woah, there are a lot of pacis!" Deceit acted fake-shocked, causing Virgil to giggle and nod.
"Dada knows I like pacis, lots n lots, so when m' good he gets me dem! I also like decorating them with Roro when I big, he likes making cute pacis for me!"
Deceit was glad to know Roman was a good caregiver. "That's adorable, which one are you gonna use?"
Virgil pulled out a black one that had, that said 'cuddly baby' on the handle, with a animated baby-bottle as the center-piece. It was decorated in pastel and silver gems. "Woah, fancy. Very cute and set for a baby," Deceit booped his nose, causing him to giggle again before he popped it in his mouth.
Deceit turned on Sleeping Beauty in the commons, making sure he was comfortable, before going to the kitchen, washing out his bowl and leaving it in the sink. He found vanilla yogurt, knowing well that Virgil liked it.
Within a few minutes, he set a small bowl in Virgil's lap on the couch. "Uh..we don't eat anything dat you can spill on da couch, it's a rule because we're clumsy.."
"we're?" Deceit questioned. Virgil blushed and slapped a hand over his mouth.
"don't worry, tis a secret!" he remove his hand, pulling his pacifier out of his mouth, and doing all a two year old could do to avoid getting messy. Deceit saw in one of the cabinets, sippy cups and bottles in all different colors, most of them lining up with a specific side. He was pretty sure it was the others little gear.
"Hey, buddy, you don't have to tell me if you don't wanna. But, a-are the other sides littles too?" he asked.
"Don't think m' supposed to tell you-"
Both sides were scared when the prince like trait appeared in the kitchen. "Deceit?" Roman didn't seem mad, just really shocked and confused.
"No, no! Don't yell or make him goes away, I let him stay!" Virgil said. It was probably good it was Roman who came back first, not Logan or Patton. Besides Virgil, Roman was the most sympathetic to the dark sides.
Roman nodded lightly, scanning over Deceit with his eyes. "Care to explain why you're here though?"
"I knew everyone would be gone, I was gonna come check on him and mess with him. But he was crying, and little, and lonely and I didn't want to leave him. But I said I was only gonna stay until someone else got back, sorry," Deceit quickly got up, ready to leave.
"Wait, you know about age regression? You knew about Virgil?"
Deceit nodded silently, as if saying 'obviously'. Deceit's voice was different, softer rather than extra, and he seemed more genuine. "How? He hasn't talked to you in months and as far as I know he's only been regressing for a few months."
Deceit faltered. "Oh..he probably didn't wanna worry you, but he's been regressing since about a year before he left the dark sides," Deceit admitted. For the first time in a while, Roman accepted what he said immediately as truth. He seemed shell-shocked, but not mad or upset.
"That makes sense, I guess. But, I'm back and while I might not mind you stepping in for Virgil, Patton definitely will. So, it's best you leave before they get back," Roman spoke hesitantly, but Deceit nodded and sunk out without another word.
Virgil whimpered when Roman looked at him, trying to hide in his hoodie, like he was scared of Roman. Roman came and sat next to Virgil. "Baby, I'm not mad at you. I was just confused and shocked...I know that it's in his nature to be villian like, but he does care about you and I know that. I'm glad you had someone to help calm you down," Roman softened his face, pushing his hood down.
"And, if Deceit agrees not to mess with you, maybe you can go talk to him when you're big. I want to see Remus anyways..." Virgil hugged Roman.
"B-but what about Lo n' Pat! Dey won't like dat,"
"If we wanna visit people we're close to, we have every right. Yes, they've done bad stuff to us in the past, but Remus is my brother, and I know you were close to Deceit."
Virgil nodded. Roman knew more than anything that his brother was trying to help Thomas in the only way he knew how, and he was created villainy. He was pretty sure that Deceit was the same way. They developed believing they had to be manipulative and such. If they toned it down, or were raised the same way the core sides were, they'd be totally different.
Virgil could change, why couldn't the other two?
Now, it was just a matter of convincing Logan and Patton that they weren't all bad.
