Dan Heng did not mind that Xing decided to spend time in his room working on adding information to the work to keep the archive updated. It was his job as the Archivist to make sure that it would stay up to date while she somehow volunteered to help. It made things a little easier on his part since he was always adding new details to different sections on a daily basis especially after they are unable to uncover more of the truth. Details that tend to be uncovered more each day when it comes to visiting new places whether it was for the sake of getting supplies or a situation that was brought to their attention.

Nightmares. A situation that has had a habit of making an appearance when Dan Heng least expected it to happen since he was supposed to be resting. A nightmare which decided to make an appearance tonight after the Astral Express settled down for the night. A nightmare connected to the past. 

Familiar faces and voices flashed through his mind. All because of the decisions that Dan Feng made which left a heavy burden resting heavily on his shoulders. A burden that Dan Heng struggled to escape from since he was an outcast from the Xianzhou Luofu. A place he wouldn’t be welcomed back with open arms. 

The Astral Express was his home for now. 

A sudden flash. A gasp escaped from his lips. A heaving chest as each breath continued to escape from his lips. 

A hand resting against his back which caused Dan Heng to jump slightly before listening to the familiar voice that belonged to Xing. He must have fallen asleep at some point. He didn’t recall when though. 

A small nod as he focused on trying to calm his breathing while trying to sort through his racing thoughts. 

“Sorry Xing... Did I wake you?”

Dan Heng often kept to himself even though he was open to the ones who he did trust even though it did take time for that trust to be gained. He found people he could trust, but the heavy burden of his past continued to rest on his shoulders. It was one that he had yet to truly bring up his traveling companions since it was something that he could bring himself to talk about. 

The small group had enough to deal with since there were more important things to deal with because of the plants that needed their assistance. Especially when the presence of a Stellaron decided to make an appearance. It was unknown where their next stop was going to take them, but the Astral Express would be there to assist when the time called for it. 

A new crew member. One who was obviously different, but everyone had agreed to allow her to stay during their journey. She wasn’t a threat. She was someone who was proven to be helpful since they first crossed paths, but there was still more to learn about her. Xing wasn’t the only one who was possibly hiding secrets. 

Dan Heng had his own secrets. He wasn’t ready to reveal the truth about his lineage. He wasn’t ready to speak about the heavy burden that continued to rest heavily against his shoulders. 

A book resting between his fingers. A simple question which caused him to glance up from the page that he had been focused on. A question Dan Heng wasn’t going to answer that easily since it would make him speak the truth about his burdens. About his troublesome past. 

“What facade would that be?”

It seemed that sleepless nights were a common occurrence aboard the Astral Express even though Dan Heng tended to be focused on his work as an Archivist. There were times when it was nothing, but his thoughts or the difficult past that Dan Heng was trying to distance himself from often kept him up late into the night. A past that he most likely was running away from, but returning to the place that was once his home was no longer an option. 

Dan Heng was an outcast. Dan Heng was in exile. 

He was paying for the crimes because of the life that continued to linger as a burden resting heavily on his shoulders. A burden that he would not be able to escape from that easily. 

It seemed that one specific member of their crew had been staying up later than anyone else while the secret Vidyadhara had been attempting to get some kind of sleep. Enough to where it was a few hours at least. 

A small breath escaped from him while he leaned against the door waiting to see what Xing’s answer was going to be. One that spoke about how much sleep she actually had been getting over the last few days. 

“You might think that you are fine, but you still need to get some rest, Xing.”
