the crisp air of the southern water tribe has always brought korra a sense of clarity. there'd been so many times in her youth she'd snuck off the training grounds with naga, riding until her nose stung and her face was swollen from the cold. after a life spent on ice, she remains still as winds whip through, watching as they send a dusting of fresh snow up into the air. but tonight, even the soft reminders of her youth do little to calm the storm of thoughts that rage on through the night.
❛ can’t sleep? ❜ @ceruleanbender asks quietly, her steps light on the balcony.
korra startles, jumping briefly and glancing behind her with a faint frown. she turns back to the night sky, her eyes rising to study the southern lights. " just have a lot on my mind. " she’d planned to leave it at that, but the words tumble out, incapable of being stopped. " the world has changed so much, and there’s still so much more out there i want to help change. but sometimes being home reminds me that i’m not the same girl who was so excited to leave the compound and learn airbending. that version of me feels so young now. "
she looks over to ila, " do you ever feel that way ? like things are changing faster than you can understand them ? "
