Thinking about leopard hybrid Gojo.
As a cub, he used to sleep cuddling his tail. But the Gojo clan saw it as vulnerable and unbecoming of the strong heir, so they placed a device on the cub that forcibly separated his tail from wrapping around him while asleep.
Whereas fox hybrid Geto's family never discouraged the use of cuddling it while sleeping.
Cue Gojo and Geto sharing a room when on missions together in first year. Gojo spots Geto settling in bed, holding his tail as he curls into a ball and prepares for sleep.
Gojo looks over longingly. He quickly shakes his head though. No, he kicked that habit years ago.
So Gojo sleeps on his back, like he was trained to do.
First year passes. The leopard and fox hybrids eventually grow closer.
They've had many sleepovers at this point. Finally, Geto asks why Gojo sleeps on his back?
Gojo nonchalantly tells about his childhood.
"It was basically a bad habit of mine. So the clan helped me stop doing it," Gojo says.
Geto's expression is absolutely heartbroken.
"But sleeping like that brings you comfort, doesn't it? How is that so wrong?" He asks.
Gojo shrugs. "I honestly can't remember what it feels like, so it's no big deal."
"Do you... want to remember?" Geto asks slowly.
Gojo hesitates. He shouldn't want to, right?
"Satoru, come on. It'll just be one night," Geto purrs soothingly. Even holds his tail as an example. "You might not even like it anymore."
"Maybe..." Gojo trails off.
"You're not at the Gojo estate anymore. You're actually in my bed, and my rules say you're allowed to do whatever you want," Geto insists. "Just be comfortable with yourself, Satoru."
Gojo flushes at first because hello, that sounded so suggestive!
With a heavy exhale, Gojo relents. He sinks into the mattress next to Suguru, and carefully wraps his tail around himself. It feels familiar yet foreign at the same time.
"Goodnight, Satoru," Geto says.
"Night," Gojo replies, closing his eyes and snuggling in.
The next morning, Geto wakes up trapped by a very fluffy and soft snow leopard tail.
Said snow leopard hybrid is still snoozing away.
The sleeping snow leopard hybrid also clutches Suguru's tail like a lifeline. Like it's the source of his peace, and he never wants to let go.
Well, this works too.
When Gojo wakes up, he feels something fluffy in his hands.
He's sent into full-blown panic! How did his tail escape the damned contraption!?
On instinct, Gojo flings that fluffy tail away and kicks the warm body next to him for good measure.
"OOF!?" Geto grunts as he's forced out of bed.
So, they still have things to work on.
Some nights, Geto can coax Gojo into cuddling his tail. Other nights, Gojo refuses - even though his hands tremble with the desire to bury into soft fur.
It's worse when Gojo must travel back go the Gojo estate for clan business. He just doesn't sleep when he's there.
Fast forward a couple years, and littol Megumi & Tsumiki are fighting for their lives when Gojo's fluffy tail smacks them in the face, or pulls them this way and that way.
(Megumi is especially at optimal smacking range.)
They also witness whenever Gojo wants to get Geto's attention, the snow leopard hybrid playfully pulls on the fox hybrid's tail. A menace!
Nonetheless, the kids learn from Gojo to prioritize their own comfort. This includes sleeping while cuddling their own tails!
The kids quickly become used to sleeping under Gojo's large, fluffy tail, feeling as safe and warm as baby cubs should be.
With a big and full heart, Geto snaps a picture of his cuddle-piled family.
