Umi: But...dad...why?

Umi: Yes, dad.

Ceph: That’s my little girl... come here.

Ceph: I have to admit...that’s actually a genius plan.

Paul: Of course it is. Trust me. I’ve been close to them for years. It will work.

Ceph: C’mon, let’s toast. For your plan. After all, your future also depends on it.

Gibbons’ residence

Ceph: I can’t believe you didn’t notice about the boy.

Ceph: Is this really who you have been grooming to be our representative in Congress? Damn it! The father of a...

Paul: Cepheus, Cepheus! Calm down. I’ve got everything under control. It’s just a slight change of plans. But I know how to make sure Adam’s on our side when the time comes. It will be even better this way.

Adam: We’re having guests over for dinner today. Mr Garnet and his daughter Umi. They are moving to Hollyoaks from Port Farringdon . Mr Garnet may become the new Chief of Police and Umi will be attending St Trinian with you. You know how hard it is on your first day of school, so please try and be nice with her.

Luke: Dad...you know I’m always nice but...really, being seen with me won’t precisely help her on her first day in St Trinian.

Adam: C’mon Lucky. Bright side, please? You can introduce her to your friends at the Newspaper Club, show her around the school, etc.

Luke: Okay, okay! I will do my best! Promise. 

Adam: Great, that’s the spirit. Now, get ready for dinner. They will be here in 45 minutes.

Ceph: Thank you so much, Adam and Marc. It was a lovely evening....

Luke: so...I’ll see you at school...soon?

Umi: Yes, I’m transferring next week. I can’t wait.

Luke (thinking): me neither.

Paul Gibbons: ...I have to admit I come here with an agenda.

Paul Gibbons: with Carver retiring next month, I know you’re looking for a new Police Chief and, well, I’d like to put forward a friend of mine. Cepheus Garnet. He is currently serving as commissioner of police in Port Farringdon, but he’s moving to Hollyoaks because he wants his daughter to attend St Trinian.

Adam: Paul, you know it’s the Council that appoints the Chief...

Paul Gibbons: of course, of course...But it’s up to the mayor to propose a candidate. Just have dinner with him tonight. He’s in town with his daughter. I’m sure you’ll love him. And even if he doesn’t get appointed in the end...well at least your son will have a new friend at school.

Ceph: ...and my alma mater is St Trinian. My father and grandfather also studied there so, even though we’re happy at Port Farringdon, I wanted to Umi to also attend St Trinian.

Umi: So... you go to St Trinian too, don’t you?

Luke: Was it the uniform that gave it away? Or was it perhaps the look of constant dread on my face?

Umi: You’re funny, Luke.

Luke: Funny haha or funny peculiar?

Umi: Is there really a difference?

Ceph: Luke is such a well-behaved young man. I’m sure he’s excelling at St Trinian. If you don’t mind me asking, he is adopted, isn’t he?

Adam: Yes, we couldn’t be prouder. He’s been with us since he was a child. He was our foster kid and we only officially adopted him a few months ago.

Ceph: Oh I see...He’s so lucky to have found such a loving family. What happened to his birth parents?

Marc: None knows much about his mother...according to the case file she abandoned him when he was barely a baby. His father was sent to prison on drug charges and signed over his parental rights.
