Number 21: Century: Golem Edition, designed by Emerson Matsuuchi and published by @planb_games. 💎♦️🤖 Continuing my top 25 of games I’ve discovered this year, this deck building/resource management card game is one that I was surprisingly not enamoured with. But after a few games it really clicked just how smart this game is, with a really nice flow that keeps turns sharp and snappy. In Century: Golem Edition, players are trying to collect gems to trade and collecting Golems (each beautifully illustrated by artists Justin Chan, Chris Quilliams and Fernanda Suarez) to ultimately have the most points at game end. To gain gems, players have four actions to choose from: 💎 Play a card from your hand 💎 Buy a card from the market 💎 Claim a Golem 💎 Pick up all their played cards 🤖♦️💎 One of the biggest things that struck me about this game was how every turn feels meaningful. On every turn you have options to choose from, meaning there is never a turn that you feel like you can’t do something to head toward victory. It keeps the game moving, and lets you always feel in with a chance. 🤖💎♦️ Ultimately I chose the Golem Edition because of the beautiful art, but either version is going to play the same way. This is a satisfying game that really feels like a fun puzzle to work out, and a worthy addition to this list! #centurygolemedition #centuryspiceroad #emersonmatsuuchi #cardgame #cardgames #planbgames #boardgames #boardgame #boardgamegeek #boardgamesofinstagram #bgg #tabletop #tabletopgames #hobby #mytop25games #boardgameaddict #gamer #gaming https://www.instagram.com/p/BrBn_wGDQR3/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=aig9vqbl7wbm
