With all questions about Jericho answered, Eddie could hear the squabbling up front getting louder and louder, and she emerged from the back room with shouts of her own.

Celosia followed her out, staring down at his missing hand. Well, at least he knew a bit more about Jericho than he did previous... As he walked by, he saw Anthony ducking behind the counter after listening to this awful fight.

In the background, Eddie’s yelling could be heard.

“I’m not toleratin’ any fights at my inn! If ya gonna yell, take it outside, ya fucks!”

While Primarina were definitely not a foreign concept to him-- he knew a few, Granny came to mind-- though she was also part dewgong... Anyway! Back to the present. The waves lapped against smoky feet, causing him to move back a little bit. Water was foreign. Water was... uncomfortable...

“Did you see where she was? Maybe I can.. talk to her…?”

He sighed.

“I don’t need to think about this because there is no chance the Doc is going to die! Okay? Nothing! Nothing’s going to happen!”

Someone’s in denial. . . 

“I swear to the gods, Jericho’s real! Fucking hell.”

“Look, just let me have this, okay? You all are the worst.”

Celosia took a deep breathe, his panic seeming to calm itself a little.

“It’s… it’s about all I’ve got left…”

At the peculiar Leafeon’s inquiry, the well built Scrafty brought another cigar to her mouth. Lighting the tip of it, the lizard took in a deep breath before letting out a satisfied puff. A ring of smoke emitting between her sharp teeth. “... Shit, those stories are fuckin’ old. I heard ‘em from my Ma.” The Scrafty grunted, cigar held firmly between her teeth. There certainly have been a lot of people pestering her about these silly tales lately. But she saw no reason not to humor them. At least this once. Didn’t want that crazy cactus fella wigging out on her again. “Once upon a time, pretty long time ago, there was an ol’ plague.” Eddie started, tapping her cigar ever so lightly as some ash fell off. 

“In that ol’ plague, it was horrible, lots of folks died, but there was apparently a fella who seemed immune. See, this fella was old, ‘n’ tall, too. They were lookin’ fer an apprentice, yeah? Back then, they knew they were the cause of the disease, and back then they hated that, said Mama. So the old fella startin’ trainin’ apprentices in medicine, cuz they loved medicine and wanted ta help people, but a lot of them failed, died, ‘n’ shit. Then along came Jericho-- Jericho was a fae, lot stronger than most, uh, ‘mortals. Jericho became tha answer to plagues, helped lots of people with incurable diseases, and helped folks live through impossible odds, but would never share his methods.” Eddie ended with a satisfied grunt. Though she paused, noticing her little guest was still here. “... That’s it. That's that, like, origin story.” Eddie shrugged, not bothering to delve any further into the topic.

All the while, at the Leafeon’s concern for his arm. Celosia merely waved the concern away with both his hands, or rather a hand and stub. “Nah, you don’t have to worry about it! It’s just a hand, after all!” The hybrid said with some anxiety in his voice. This stub was bringing more attention than he had bargained for.

“I.... unfortunately have some doubts, about that.”

“The last thing Doc said before they totally went out was that they needed someone named Jericho.”

“Doc was kinda stabilized by someone on the way here, but… I don’t know if it’ll completely restore them. They haven’t even moved or woken up since they passed out.”

“….”

“… And if they’re… well, if they’re a fairy tale, then I damn hope fairy tales are real.”
