It’d been six years since the last time he saw Nick. As far as he was concerned, the last conversation they had seemed so final. It’d taken months for him to even consider dating anyone seriously again. And he thought maybe it’d always be a big what if, the one that got away. But up to this point he really had moved forward.

Standing there on Nick’s doorstep was even weirder than that, though. He was usually more confident than this. More sure.
