"There's no need to thank me. You asked me to keep it safe, so I did," he explained, shrugging his shoulders. If any of those he considered friend needed his help he would offer it without question. And this time was no different. Of course, he'd been curious about the locket and why she needed it tucked where no one would find it. He'd always been a curious person and when she'd left the package with him he hadn't even bothered to ask what it was. The only thing he'd asked at the time was if she would come back for it. Steve didn't want to keep it hidden forever. Especially if it meant trouble. But if she was going to come back for it…
None of that mattered since she was there. His house maid had been the one who hid it in the first place, and he knew she would know where to retrieve it from. The woman who ran his house was someone he trusted with his life and he hoped that Charlie would understand why he handed it over to her. Everyone who worked in his house had to pass her judgement and if she thought they weren't good enough then he wouldn't hire them. It was as simple as that. Now that Charlie was there, Steve was definitely curious to find out what it was he'd kept hidden away. Was it as dangerous as he was assuming? Or was it something else entirely?
"Why would I hate you? We're friends. You don't normally hate your friends."
