No matter how long it's been since I read it, this beautiful series forever remains in my heart. I often find myself looking back on it, thinking "I wish I had read the whole series" or "I want to own all of the volumes". This manga is deeply embedded into my childhood memories. Although I only read a few select chapters as a child, (back in the 90s manga was sold here by the chapter just like American comics) the chapters I read were so fascinating to me. This series still fascinates me to this day. The characters were so unique, and I realized these characters held a big impact on characters that I would create in the future.

Whenever I thought about a "lone wolf" character, one that seems to be distanced from others and has a lot of uncertainty about who he really is and what his heart wants, I think of Touya. When I think of the character who likes a girl who has no interest in him; when I think of a love triangle: I think of Yuuhi.

For some reason even Aki's incestuous feelings for his sister have always been fascinating to be. I remember the scene where he kissed a poster of his sister and then started worrying that he was losing his mind.

As a child, I was never aware that this was categorized as a Shojo manga. Although this series surely consists of lots of romance, what stood out to me the most was the HORROR. I had always thought of this as a beautifully emotional horror series. There were such gruesome events that happened in this series, one of which taught me what the term "spontaneous combustion" meant.

I recently started reading another series by Yuu Watase: Absolute Boyfriend. Reading this, I find it hard to believe it was made by the same person who made Ceres. It was so extremely shojo. I had hoped it would be as deep and dramatic as Ceres, but the first few volumes disappointed me. I was so used to the blood and gore of the other series, that I was hoping this one would have the same level of despair.
