The reasons why I love Saint Seiya fandom
I was hesitating if I should have posted it, but... Why not? In the worse scenario nobody would read it :P
The reasons why I love Saint Seiya fandom:
1. It’s all about fun We all do know how ridiculous is plot in StS and even more crazy in spin-offs. We all do know that the animation style is so Toei, a lot of derp and retard, we all do accept that. We all do know how shitty was Omega, how ooc was Soul of Gold. And we don’t care. Because this is only about fun. We get what we get and we can only make the best of our circumstances so bad things vanish in jokes and general indulgence. And what if somebody has different opinion about how good something in StS was? Everybody cheers! That’s good, go ahead, so happy that you like it.
2. (Almost) No Ships War I remember one time (and I’m in the fandom for soooo long) when somebody wasn’t happy about main fandom ships (like Milo x Camus or Shun x Hyoga) that they get too much attention. So, did StS fandom start a war or even a battle? No! We did the rare ship festival so everybody could be happy about their ships. That was awesome, I’ve never seen something like that in any other fandom! So positive! I don’t like Shun x Hyoga ship but I would never argue with someone who likes. The same for me - I like Shun x June and I never met anyone whining about it. We just accept that different people like different things and it’s just a fiction so it’s flexible. We can do whatever we want because just one reason - fandom is for fun. In StS fandom you can ship hetero, homo or both, it doesn’t matter as long as you have fun. Multishipers welcome!
3. Everyone is so positive I see people sharing different ideas and they always get encouraged by others. Nobody trashes anyone for head canons or ships. If I don’t like something, I get over. Or even tell the author - well, I don’t like it but it’s just a matter of taste. I’m sure you find someone who will love it.
4. Great humor I don’t think I would enjoy Saint Seiya to the level I’m enjoying it now without this tons of memes and jokes you people created! Sometimes they are in Spanish or Portuguese, but well, Google Translate, and usually someone posts an English translation, I appreciate it so much! Thank you, all artists, for sharing your work with us!
5. Diversity In Saint Seiya fandom there are people from several different countries. And you can really see it. People are so considerate. We don’t care how good is your English, everybody is just happy that we can communicate and understand each other. I love to watch how StS side characters are loved in different countries (like Italians like Death Mask and Shaina, Argentineans like Albiore, Camus has a huge fandom in France and so on). I learnt a lot from that.
Please stay like this, Saint Seiya Fandom, you’re really great, guys! Especially now, when Netflix will provide Saint Seiya to worldwide audience and that probably will cause huge changes in Saint Seiya Fandom.
