Bought this many years ago @infestfestival as it was bright pink and had Fischerspooner on it. And what a mix. It's utterly filthy. And FLA's Tactical Neural Implant is certainly one of those. After several albums and EPs Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber nailed a sound here that countless Industrial acts have been chasing for decades. Full on driving baselines, pummeling drums, harsh vocals, melodic synth lines and brilliant samples. So many classics. The Blade, Mindphaser, Remorse, Gun and Bio-Mechanic are all highlights but from start to finish this album is Industrial perfection. There could be a massive debate about what FLAs best album is. No doubt many would pick this one. Hoobastank Hoobastank 2001 Track Of Choice: Crawling In The Dark As promised my old ass CD collection holds many lost (for good reason in some cases) classics. I started to DJ in 1999 in a Rock pub. Around that time Nu Metal was kicking off big style. The likes of Korn and Limp Bizkit were already flying high along with bands like Incubus and Slipknot to some extent. But around the corner was the second wave of bands. Among them Linkin Park who would blow the roof of the genre allowing it's proper mainstream acceptance. In among that pack was Hoobastank. A band that drew on the Incubus sound and amped up the pop chorus lines. Crawling In The Dark is the only track I can remember from this album and it's track one. So I'm in for a bit of total recall here. Oh it's worth saying I saw these guys supporting Incubus at Nottingham arena. Ministry Of Sound Clubbers Guide To Trance Mixed By ATB 1999 Track Of Choice: Mauro Picotto - Lizard (Tall Paul Mix) So here we go. With the updated Record deck I've gone and bought a brand new CD player. A Teac CD-P650 to be exact and it sounds awesome. So for the very first CD post on this profile I had to go with this Ministry Of Sound collection from 1999. Clubbers Guide To Trance was intrinsic to developing my taste in electronic music and more so the art of the Club DJ. To be able to mix and blend a bunch of tracks into one seamless whole became fascinating to me. I'd heard other Ministry Of Sound compilations before (the Annual from 1997 sticks I out in my mind) but it was the Trance side of things that really sealed the deal for me. And this collection is where it started. And as I began to DJ more on the EBM / Electro Industrial side of the Alternative scene the skill sets heard hear were at the forefront of my mind. I never achieved anything as skillful as this though. But I would have loved to. Anyway this is the best Trance for me light on the vocals big on the beats; so many of these tracks are rightly seen as Trance classics.
