In time his mentor began to have doubts about using him in such a manner and organised for Arthur to live among others of his kind to learn their culture and traditions.

Tex (a quite obviously fake name) is a man on a mission to reinvent himself. Selkies are quite often female. This common perception has caused Tex no amount of internal anguish as he formulates his own perception of his idealised male self. In an attempt to start afresh, he takes a job in Cyreus Cove, where his grandparents were raised. He hopes that, by keeping his true nature a secret, the locals will only see the image of the man he puts forward. In doing this, he thinks he just might become that man.

Cam is very shy and doesn’t go out of their way to talk to people. This is a fault that they’re trying to work on through working. They maintain their appearance as very human-like so people don’t suspect that they’re a faerie. Sometimes even Cam catches themself thinking that they’re a human. Cam has worked in the bookstore for a few months now. It took Cam a while to get accustomed to the demands of a seemingly simple bookstore job. They’re trying to get full-time soon and once that happens, the magic will really begin (they hope).

Raised in an average household with an average family, Emmett has grown up accepting that life can be average and that is okay. He doesn’t need any daredevil adrenaline rush, nor feel like he needs to seek out some grand adventure. He is content with what he has and takes joy in things many others would consider simple and possibly boring. He knows he doesn’t need need anything more than his wife and a cup of good coffee, but he acknowledges that other people aren’t like him. His wife Ashlynn has been the most exciting person he’s ever met and he knows she can’t live without some sort of adventure. Though many were surprised they’d fall in love, Emmett couldn’t be happier supporting his wife with her wanderlust and love of the supernatural.

Her internship has now brought her to Cyreus Cove to explore its surrounding depths and learn just how the supernatural can live amongst humans.

Marli, an optimistic and curious mermaid, grew up along the tropical Amazon river where she and her pod lived a simple life. She bares three scars from her childhood in the rainforest – a reminder of the drunk fishermen who mistook her as an arapaima. Marli now holds a deep distrust and fear of the land above, much preferring the depths and all its wonder. She is currently working her way towards becoming a maritime archaeologist and has recently started her first internship which has brought her to Cyreus Cove. Marli likes to flaunt her intelligence, often coming across as an obnoxious know-it-all. However, her avoidance of land means that she is absolutely clueless when it comes to human life and its practices.
