âYou would point a gun at me? A poor, defenseless stranger?âÂ
The witch appeared more scandalized than fearful. This wasnât the first attempt made on her life, nor would it be the last, but there was something about the art of it she appreciated. Sheâd faced her fair share of assassins in her time and there was always something to be said for the sheer drama of it. She found the whole process dangerously intriguing.Â
She allowed her grin to fade, taken aback in stage-like false horror. Her âpartnerâ had put on such a grand performance so far, itâd be rude of her not to play along.
âHave you no humanity? Have you no mercy? To strike someone as beautiful as me down in her prime, such cruelty! Such absolute villainy! Tell me, assassin, after you watch the light fall away from my eyes, will you be able to sleep at night? Will you weep? Will you even remember my name? Or am I but another strand of fate for you to sever so viciously, that you canât spare the moment to appreciate the gravity of what youâve done?
Well fire away, my killer. As my last act, I deny you the sick pleasure youâd surely derive from seeing me beg for my life, I pray only that you make it quick, you monster.âÂ
