alongside the release of the dlc, i've pushed cryptid coffeehouse v3.2 onto itch to accompany it. when you purchase the dlc, please make sure you download the new version of the main game for maximum compatibility!
the afterparty dlc contains:
a huge massive prologue where you, artemis, and your friends go out to dinner, get drunk, and have a fun silly time with each other
a lot of delicious sexual tension with artemis that lasts hours
and an incredibly interactive and customizable sequence of sex scenes! yay!!!

in another assorted dlc news, lots of people have asked me about card payments since itch only has paypal available due to that whole nsfw delisting situation they have going on right now. initially, i was intending for the dlc to itch-exclusive, but i've received enough messages in the past 12 hours or so asking about it that i'll put the dlc on steam too for better accessibility. it'll take a few extra days because of the steam reviews, but i will get started adding it to steam once i get home from work tonight (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
since i'll be adding this paid dlc to steam, i'm going to offset that cost by making the main game free on steam as well! so from whenever this dlc is cleared to release on steam, the base game will be free to download on all desktop platforms. hopefully this will make it a little easier for you guys to play the game! i don't ever want to make it hard for y'all to experience the work i'm sharing.

OKAY so you guys said you wanted to see some of these afterparty dlc cgs... [places these gently at your feet] there are 4 cgs in the dlc, all with many, many, MANY toggles and alternates hehehe 😋 pretty much all i need to do now is fully render everything and code it all into the script! the goal is to finish all that within the week ^_^

hi everyone!! it's been a minute, so it's time for yet another afterparty dlc update!!! i have lots of fun things to bring to you this time around...
so at this point, now that the writing is all complete, the dlc is officially 50% coded. i've coded the entire prologue (aside from a few things... i'll get to that in a minute), and now all that's left is the nsfw scenes 😁🖤 finishing all the coding is actually taking much longer than i thought because i, for some reason, didn't realize how long a 75,000 word game expansion actually is (LOL) but now i'm really feeling it. that being said, we're making pretty good progress despite this! the release date is getting shifted back a little bit due to how long it's taking me, but it shouldn't be so much that it's absurd. i'll definitely be releasing this dlc before the end of the winter season!
so what's left to do, you ask? great question ^_^ here's my current itemized list of tasks that i'll be completing over the next couple of weeks:
create sprites for the new dlc characters
retrieve one more background asset
make a list of the amount of cgs needed for the nsfw section (because i'll be relying almost completely on cgs rather than spritework)
illustrate said cgs, hahaha
make a character initialization screen for when the dlc begins where body parts and (a limited selection of) skin tones can be chosen
add an indicator somewhere in the game's first couple of menus that tells you that the dlc is installed correctly
and if i'm not feeling burnt out by the end of this, do some extra spritework with the existing characters... but we'll see how i feel once everything else is done!
for now, i've been thinking about designs for the new characters, armelian (fairy) and jj (cyborg). they're waitstaff at the diner you and the gang visit after the big concert at mallette's! here are some sketches i did of them the other day if anyone is curious. oh and also here's a drawing of artemis i did a bit ago that i think is cute hehehe
but yes! that's where we're at currently. i hope to give you guys some more good news in the next couple of weeks. so thanks so much for your patience!! i'm really excited to bring this to you all, so i appreciate everyone waiting for me so kindly <3 it means a lot!!!

hello all cryptid coffeehousers far and wide...!!! i bring to you today great news: it's time for a long-awaited afterparty dlc update!!!! wahoo!!!
i am very pleased to announce... that after weeks of effort... the entire prologue of the dlc is complete!! the section that i was working on all of these weeks was the final scene of the prologue, the one where everyone goes back to the artehouse and gets wasted (or not, depending on what choices you pick) and you and artemis have a fun time trying not to fondle each other while all your friends are sitting there in the living room with you (or not... depending on what choices you pick.... lmfao).
after checking the word count, we're clocking in at about 39k words, give or take. crazy! it's super big. i can estimate that the actual bulk of the dlc (the sex HAHAHA) will be about that size if i'm thinking of including everything that i want to include. i think we might be looking at a total size of maybe 60-70k... but we'll see.
and now for my favorite part! the script snippets! since i've kept yall waiting for so long, i'll throw in some more than usual :-)
i am like… so thrilled to be done with the prologue like WAAAH!! it’s been a long time coming, and now we can finally get into what this dlc is actually for!!! it’s been fun to write just pages and pages of romantic and sexual tension though, hahaha, it really sets the mood not only for artemis & the player but also for me lmfao.
anyways, here’s what the completed prologue script looks like so far. it’s a monster!!!! i’m not sure how i’m going to fit all the stuff in for the next part of the dlc but alas. we will make it work :P
i have a couple of things to go back and edit, as i’ve realized that i forgot to wrap up some minor conversation topics & plot points, but in the meantime i’m preparing to get down to business and deciding what’s going to be included in the actual intimate scenes with artemis.

hai everyone!! ( ^_^)/so sorry to keep disappearing on you all... i wanted to let everyone know that, yes, i am still alive and, yes, i am still working on the dlc, hahaha, among other things. i wanted to provide y'all with a little nyewks status update with some answers to questions i've been receiving lately!
q: when is the afterparty dlc releasing?
a: it's been a really busy couple of months for me, so things are going pretty slow. the prologue of the dlc (which i finished a couple weeks ago) was some of the more difficult things to write and was holding me back quite a bit. now that it's complete, there's a lot less to slog through. i've gone through the afterparty dlc request form and there's actually a pretty concise set of requests in there as a lot of people are looking for the same thing, so i don't anticipate that i'm going to write like 10 different sex scenes or anything.
afterwards, i'll need to code everything, draw some new artwork, commission maybe one or two new songs for the ost, and then run through a quick playtesting phase. with that in mind, i hope to finish by the end of the year... if not then, then by the second or third week of january. the writing is genuinely what takes the most time, which is soooo annoying sometimes, but at least everyone will have at least one or two hours of stuff to play once i'm all done!
q: is the afterparty dlc still going to cost money?
a: yes! currently, i plan on the dlc costing $10.99, but honestly, with the way i'm writing, there's so much that i might raise it to $15. my current thought process is that if the dlc exceeds 75k words, i'll raise the price. from my rough calculations, the prologue is about 39k.
the thought process for this is that the entirety of the cryptid coffeehouse is 152k spread over 13 events, so about 11.7k per event. the game costs $10.99, but is free to like 90% of the player base since most people download from itch.io. if the dlc is 75k words, that's like half of the size of the original game and i'm kind of compensating for not making very much money from the original game anyway. does that make sense? i hope to not have to go this far lol but all of this has been a lot of work for the past several years. i'll keep everyone updated!
q: where is the dlc going to be purchasable?
a: okay, what with the whole nsfw content nightmare on itch.io (where i was originally planning on putting the game up), i'm attempting to consider what the options are. obviously, things are still changing every day and i'm taking my time finishing the dlc, hahaha, so maybe things will be okay by the time i put the dlc up online.
my preference list would be as follows:
on itch.io, on the original game page
on itch.io, on a separate deindexed page (since last i checked that was fine...? maybe card payments aren't good but paypal might be)
patreon
a secret fourth thing that i haven't figured out yet but might just be a storefront on my personal website
steam... le sigh. really don't want to pull that one out but will if i have to, probably by switching itch.io to $10.99 and steam to free, then uploading the paid dlc to steam afterwards.
it's sometimes a lot to consider, but i think it'll be okay to cross that bridge when we get there :-)
q: what about kurou connect? what's happening with that?
a: great question! i haven't forgotten about kurou connect by any means— i'm just in a state where the afterparty dlc is pretty much the only thing i can handle thinking about right now. but as soon as the afterparty dlc is finished, i'll be diving straight into kurou connect dev! practically the entire "true ending" of the game is completely boarded and just needs to be written and coded.
my first step will be a quality of life update to the original demo, which will mostly contain artwork updates and maybe some voice acting if i can afford it. after that, i'll be starting either a kickstarter or a patreon situation as i work on the game in earnest, as it's going to be a very expensive game to make ^^; the idea is that i'm going to have a multi-tiered patreon that will allow access to different builds of the game at different times since i'll be developing it mostly in an episodic nature. i'm not sure about all of this yet because genuinely, my following isn't too large hahaha and i'm not trying to mooch off of you guys for my silly little gay demon guy. but i will provide more information as that develops!
q: will there ever be more merch?
a: YES there will be more merch and it will be better than all the old stuff i made. once the afterparty dlc is finished, i'll have more brainspace to think about other stuff and merch will be one of them! i have lots of ideas. if anyone wants anything specific, let me know and i can probably do it. so far i have lots of plans for acrylic things... mostly charms and standees.

hey everyone!!! i'm back with another afterparty dlc update, one that i've been waiting to bring to you all for the past, like, seven months 😭 i am so happy to announce that... i'm done writing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally, finally, the script is complete and we can move on to the next stage: coding!
writing often takes up at least 60-70% of my game dev process, so we're very close to wrapping everything up here, which is incredibly exciting. lowkey i want to cry lol i'm so excited to bring this dlc to y'all... it's gonna be really fun and good 🥹🥹
here's what the game's branches look like now that everything is all finished! it's very cluttered due to how many moving parts there are, especially in the rightmost section there, which is where all the sex is happening lol
currently, without pulling any of my coding statements or character dialogue tags out, the dlc is sitting at an incredibly comfortable 85,900 words... which is... massive. the number will definitely go down once i code everything, but let's just keep in mind that the entirety of cryptid coffeehouse is about 152,000 words!!! i'm not sure how this thing got to be so big, but... here we are o_o
