The Ten Complete CB Codes
As discussed before, CB radios have given rise to a rich and interesting culture that is based on such values which bring people from all around the world close to one another. Just like all the other cultures of this world, CB culture also has its own traditions, customs and language. The language, also called the CB Slang, is the one that makes these systems shine out as a unique means of communication. Due to this aspect of the CB culture, the CB’ers are able to communicate without any difficulties and in a uniform manner over all the CB channels. Each user holds his/her own unique CB name on the network that is popularly known as a CB handle. These nicknames make the user identification easy over such a widespread network.
This CB Slang is used both by commercial as well as local CB operators. Normal users can carry out their communication without an extensive use of this slang. But for the commercial users or the more professional CB’ers, there is a set of codes, each having a meaning attached to it. These codes are called the ’10-codes’. These codes particularly facilitate during the emergency situations, hence saving the time of the user from using long sentences for conveying the most basic messages. There is a great importance of these codes in the CB Slang so they are generally given with the manuals that are given with any of the CB products. Here is a quick look at what messages are conveyed by these codes:
