This blog kind of made me realize that I need to work so much more on my art. Thanks! Due to horrible art teachers where I ended up with the mindset of "I'll just do it my way" bad habit. I've not even worked on perspective in years and it shows in the comic I try to make. I think I am going to try draw from life again and try the tutorials here. Saying that what I do is just "style" is limiting myself. Again thanks for the motivation and great blog here!
Hi caveoftheblackcat! Paul here, and this struck a chord with me--in middle school and early high school, I drew a lot on my own, but I was very resistant to taking classes because I didn’t want people “telling me what to do.”
Luckily my high school had a great art teacher, and when I decided to take classes with her, I started getting much better at drawing.
Artistic freedom is great to have, but classes don’t have to work against that--the more you learn, the more you can do.
