Baume-les-Messieurs is situated in the heart of a magnificent cirque of high cliffs. The village itself is picturesque and the abbey is really beautiful. There are several viewpoints from where you have a breathtaking view over the village (for example GC4G906 in Granges). Especially for geocachers: don’t miss the adventure (and cave and spectacular view) of GC8517. Exploring the cave “Grotte de Chauveroche“ was really a great adventure! The water you see at the pic is the start of an 8 km long underground river. We enjoyed every minute of this tour. We got crawled through the mud and really got dirty, saw bats and stalactites hanging in the cave and saw a couple of chamois on our way to get there. And last but not least found the geocache.
