Pros: Small convention with a good variety of artists and vendors (meaning you don't overlap with other artists), proceeds go to the local Women’s Resource Center
Cons: Beckley is quite small and out of the way; people were smoking right outside of the loading dock and the smoke was blowing into the hall

This was a wild one I chose to do as sometimes small conventions are my best ones. I was one of only a few print artists there, and (as far as I saw) one of only 2 people selling original comics, though many people were doing resin (and it showed in the low sales I had). I do think that the area being somewhat poorer did influence the buying habits, as people were balking at some of my prices, however I did receive 8 commissions, which kept me busy the entire weekend (plus one to take home with me).
Everyone was super nice, and it definitely had the small show atmosphere where people really wanted to talk to you and get to know you. I had some excellent table neighbors as well. Plus all the proceeds went to a really good cause.
Gross sales: ~$1700
Recommend/will attend again? It's a bit out of the way (5 hour drive) but I love driving through the Appalachian mountains. If I find someone else to drive with and/or split hotel costs with, then definitely.
