As children, most of us would watch Pokemon on television as well as exchange the cards with each other and play the games on our consoles. Pokemon was both exciting and interesting which caused our minds to sparkle and imagine the Pokemon world. I personally favored Pikachu, due to its cuteness, behavior, and squeeky phrase, "pika-chu".  But allow me to move on to a more important matter. Recently, an app developed by Nintendo called Pokemon Go has been released. This app allows the player to capture Pokemon using the GPS and camera on the device. At first, this game may seem innocent, or just something for the kids to play with, but more is at play. For starters, people have utterly disconnected themselves from reality, only worried about capturing Pokemon and earning points for potions that will not benefit them in any physical manner.  For example, a twenty-four-year-old man from New Zealand quit his job in order to catch all 151 Pokemon. It is completely natural to want to take a break from work, but to leave work in order to look for virtual fairy tale creatures is complete lunacy and childish. We as adults are supposed to be role models for children and if we continue following in our foolish desires, then we shall be the blame for our children’s troubles in life. It’s completely normal to connect with your children through Pokemon just don’t allow it to dictate you and your child. The world is filled with many beautiful places to see, but instead many choose to walk and stare at a screen that brings forth nothing but regret. We must realize that we live in a beautiful world and that we should explore it and create memories that will last a lifetime. If we continue this course by being disconnected from our beautiful world, then the demise of our curiosity to explore will be set to course. I strongly encourage you to explore the museums and natural sites near you.
