The nagging and legitimate concern of many, as we race headlong into the cloud computing era, is our stuff's security. We all hear disturbing news reports about vulnerabilities over public wifi systems or attacks on servers even as more and more of our private personal and business data is transmitted and stored on these systems. And here's what we hear from you:
85.7% Catch users cite secure sync as somewhat or very important to them
82.8% rate the ability to passcode protect notes for privacy as somewhat/very important, second only to search in important features for managing content
From day one, Catch has taken privacy and security very seriously because the whole notion of Catch is to provide an easy way to keep track of even the most proprietary and intimate ideas. It's your journal, your diary. It's no good augmenting your brain if unwanted eyes can peek in.
So here's a recap of what's what:
All mobile syncing transmissions are encrypted.
Ditto for all browsers sessions with your journal at catch.com. You will always see https in the URL. (See our earlier post on what FIRESHEEP reveals about bogus security.
Catch passes daily Verisign and MacAffee security tests that protect from data and identity theft, viruses, spyware, phishing and other sinister activities.
Here are additional steps we recommend you take:
Android users, go to settings>passcode lock to protect your journal entries behind your own four digit code.
iPhone and iPad users, tap "Tabs", then "Setting" and Passcode Lock.
If you haven't registered your journal at catch.com (secure login, naturally) ,you will not be able to recover your notes if, heaven forbid, your phone is stolen or damaged or you space the four digit Catch protection code.
Don't hesitate to share your concerns or questions with us by writing to feedback(at)catch(dot)com.
