She sighed and put down her spoon. She was struggling to eat anyway; her stomach was just a pit of anxiety. “You know India helped us... get rid off... Nathan for a while...” Her voice trailed off, her eyes uncertain as she met his. He nodded, his mouth twisting into a grimace. “That fucking bastard. He deserved all he got and more”. His knuckles whitened as he clenched his fists. Cat gave his knee a soothing pat. He had not taken the news of how exactly Abi ended up pregnant well. “Anyway. Alex has started asking questions, as is quite natural when your brother drops off the face of the earth for two years... His accounts and credit cards haven’t been touched, he hasn’t been seen; he’s completly gone. I called India, and she said her guy let Nathan go after two weeks. I talked to Alex, and he wants to involve the police. I’ve told him there are... complicated circumstances... around when I last saw Nathan. He wants us to involve a lawyer first to get all the cards on the table, and then figure out how to take this to the police.”
She sighed, looking down into her lap, idly pulling on a loose thread on her top. “It’s all a bit overwhelming... I didn’t think I’d have to deal with him again”.
