Dear Growth,
When is a good time in a relationship to reveal a growth factor? Do you feel itβs something that you should be upfront with before the first date, or a couple weeks in? Is it something you keep to yourself, deny and deflect even when you start to think they have to know by now and everything youβre wearing is too small and getting smaller, and other people are starting to notice and everyone is waiting for you to completely ruin this outfit despite your best efforts, yourself included?
β¦
Or is it something that should wait until intimacy? I think Iβm seeing someone special and I donβt want to ruin it before it starts, so your advice is appreciated and I look forward to your response.
Keeping Things Under Wraps
Dear Under Wraps,
Thank you for your letter!
The double-edged sword of having growth factor is that, eventually, it'll make itself known. It may take longer depending on how oblivious your partner is, but most people will take note that their love interest is taller/bustier/wider than when they first met, especially considering the endless nature of the growth. A few inches might not be that remarkable or could be written off as bloating or misremembering, but a full foot in difference, regardless in which measurement, is much harder to ignore. All of that is to say that, if you don't make a decision, one will be made for you. So it's up to you to decide whether you want that conversation to happen:
When they bring it up;
On your own terms; or
When you're sitting in your car outside of a nice restaurant where, moments earlier, you had suddenly burst out of your clothes, the sound of ripping fabric loud enough to be heard over the string quartet in the corner as your soft curves surge out of the openings, buttons scattering in all directions, your endlessly growing body destroying the one nice dress that still "fit" in a lewd public spectacle.
If you think this person is truly someone special, I think bringing it up to them directly is your best option. Think of it not as some big secret to reveal, but as the opportunity to share something that's a part of who you are! You have growth factor. Your boobs, butt, height, etc. are going to get bigger. That's a part of who you are! If they react poorly to finding out more about you then, as much as it might suck to think about, maybe they weren't the right person. You want a partner who can accept all of you, especially considering there's going to be an ever increasing amount of "you".
Personally, I don't think it's a first date thing, especially if you don't have a history with this person. Tell them when you think it's relevant for them to know. Maybe you've made out a little (or a lot), maybe there's been some hands exploring over clothes, maybe the banter has turned from playful "oh, you~" to "O-oh... Yeah?". When you decide that you want this person to get more acquainted with your body, that's when to tell them. You don't need to wait until you're ready to go all the way, but if you're ready for them to start learning more things about your body (and how to make it feel good), then you might as well let them know one of your body's most important quirks.
Now, how you tell them is entirely up to the specifics of your relationship. You know this person a lot better than I do, so you would know how best to proceed. It doesn't have to be a big, sit-down conversation! People love to feel useful, so if you wanted to orchestrate a controlled situation (controlled is an important key word) where you'd need their help to deal with a wardrobe malfunction, that could be a good way to ease them into it! Or you could ask for their help getting measured and remark casually that they better get used to doing this because they're going to be doing it a lot.
You could also make it more meaningful, if you wanted to! If you've reached the point where you're ready to dive into intimacy, taking your partner with you to go buy new lingerie is a fun way to ramp up to that intimacy and keep your partner in the loop about your needs and your situation. Depending on how long it takes to get to that point, it could be fun to try putting on what you wore on your first date together as a way to prove just how much you've grown between them and now, breasts bulging out of bras, underwear squeezing your hips tight, a t-shirt turned into a crop top simply by merit of everything it has to contain.
If you think your partner would enjoy it, you could take some intimate selfies now and then they can directly compare the picture to what they see in front of them when you're finally ready to make that leap.
However you go about doing it, I wish you the very best of luck! I'd love to get an update on how it goes. Assuming you and your partner can get away from each other long enough to write!
Happy growing,
